Conversations with Kaylea Crabbe

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Kaylea Crabbe.

Kaylea Crabbe

Hi Kaylea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’m Kaylea Crabbe, a female entrepreneur in east Nashville. I’m a chef on private jets, and the top one percent of the entire world are my clients. I also own two businesses here in Nashville. The Nash Nest has been in business for over five years now on Airbnb and Vrbo. I have a local mural in my home by Tara Aversa, a famous muralist here in Nashville.

It’s been a rocky road, especially during COVID-19, but I’m blessed to be able to open my home up and show a unique experience of how Nashville locals live. I also have another business, First Class Affair events. I do floral design, weddings, private jet outfitting and staging, charcuterie grazing tables, and overall event planning for my guests as well! I actually used to work in the corporate world for ten years.

I lost my corporate job after being assaulted by another employee and had to file a restraining order. Apparently I was a flight risk. It was a blessing in disguise as it forced me to build my entrepreneurial skills and chase my dream of owning my own business. It definitely hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been everything but easy. I started a business after losing my job and all my income two months after buying my first home in East Nashville right before I turned thirty.

I lost my flight attendant job again during COVID-19 and then chose to refund over 100k from Airbnb/Vrbo bookings due to travel restrictions. Other hosts chose not to issue refunds, but I didn’t feel that was the right thing to do.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a corporate flight attendant and chef on private jets. We wear many, many hats, but getting paid to travel the world is a dream. If it weren’t for my Airbnb The Nash Nest being so successful I would have never found out about this dream career. I’m a super host and also in the plus collection on Airbnb. After being recruited by a company called Skyangeks, I knew this was a perfect fit for my lifestyle. I’ve been to many culinary and sommelier trainings.

I’ve been taught by Michelin star chefs and have grown to love aviation so much so that I created a business here in Nashville to offer my services to private jet passengers and anyone else who wants to plan an event with me! I’ve been trained by the best of the best who served British royalty, and I do not take that for granted. I’ve been blessed to fly the past several presidents of the United States, many business billionaires and celebrities. I try to imitate the successful people I work for and learn from them every chance I get.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I have many hilarious stories I’m happy to share about turning failure into success. Let’s catch up in person so you can choose which story!

I honestly have too many from getting taught life lessons from Robert Deniro, flying President Trump and almost causing a galley fire heating up his McDonald’s fries, driving three hours to find Kamala Harris grilled octopus, having a near death experience with Kate Hudson and her team using my cocktail recipe for her Brand King Street vodka worldwide, to nearly losing my business and reviving it from the dead by other leaders who have helped me along the way.

I would be nowhere without my faith in Christ. He gets all the glory. I’m not done yet, either.
