Today, we’d like to introduce you to Adam Bieker.
Hi Adam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
As a podiatric medical student at the beginning of your 3rd year, you must select externship programs nationally to complete 1-month rotations during your 4th year. Most schools require 8-12 months of externship rotations in which you interview, work, and evaluate the program that selects you to join them for that specific month. The only advice to make this crucial decision would be based on other students’ experiences from word of mouth.
Other than the hard-to-reach advice from those desperately ready to graduate from the rigor of medical school, it is the luck of the draw, and no one’s future should rely on mere luck. I realized the need for a modern approach to “asking those with former experience.” I quickly began collecting as much data as possible about each program in the nation. This was happening all while continuing my education, and it took a huge toll on my GPA and prior commitments, but I was driven by frustration and the desire to help those after me.
Once completed, I took it upon myself to understand coding and began the dream of “Podiatrist2Be,” an open forum for all externs to leave anonymous reviews of programs that they have attended to shine light and give future students a better understanding of where they may choose to rotate at. This dream would eliminate false advertisements and allow programs to visualize the experience students may be having, whether it be GOOD or BAD. The hope is that this would help podiatric medicine at all levels. During podiatric medical school, you must also complete 3 American Podiatric Medical Licensing Examinations that allow you to pass on to the next step on the long journey to the DPM degree.
I slowly added an APMLE Part I Practice Examination, Consultations, Externship Guide Book, CV, and Personal Statement Edits. These products have already helped many students. I have run this account anonymously for fear of lashing back from those who oppose open dialogue and criticism. However, after I have matched into my program to begin my residency (surgical training), I will proudly announce my hard work to help the podiatric community.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No road I have ever been on has been too smooth. During this time, I was a part-time bartender and medical student, and I began this intending to remain anonymous, therefore limiting my options for moral support.
This was an extremely difficult undertaking. Luckily I had a few of those close to me I was able to confide in for support. I would not be able to have done this without the support of my girlfriend, family, and God. I give full credit to those around me who played any part in the success that has been made.
As a result of much of this undertaking, I failed my first medical school course, Pediatrics. This would then require me to remove my first rotation in May to retake a cumulative examination. Fortunately, I was able to complete the requirements and strive towards finishing my goals of becoming a Podiatrist and helping those around me do the same.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Podiatrist2Be?
Podiatrist2Be is the first and only anonymous review forum for Podiatric Medical Residency Programs. We offer the only Externship Guide and Journal for Podiatric Medical Students. We are also one of the few platforms that offer a full-length weighted and timed APMLE Part I Practice Examination and Consultations.
I am most proud of having helped multiple students excel in the process of getting through the APMLE Part I Board Examination, as it has the lowest threshold of “passing” scores of all 3 APMLE Board Examinations podiatric medical students undertake.
We are currently working on additional supplemental materials for APMLE Part II Practice Examinations and More.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?

Brant (Older Brother) – Brant has not only provided financial assistance throughout my medical school journey but has also been an unwavering advocate for my aspirations, offering encouragement and guidance.
Otto (Younger Brother) – My younger brother Otto has been a constant source of motivation, fostering an environment where my ambitions thrive.

Grammy and Papa (Grandparents) – Their influence on my journey cannot be overstated. Their wisdom, guidance, and encouragement have instilled in me a strong work ethic and a drive to pursue my goals with determination and passion. I am deeply grateful for their love and influence, which continue to shape my path forward.
Anya Laraway (Girlfriend) – Throughout the journey, Anya has given unwavering support and unconditional love. Her patience, understanding, and willingness to lend a listening ear during moments of frustration have been instrumental in my success.
Tin Quach (Practicing DPM) – Dr. Quach’s mentorship and guidance have played a pivotal role in shaping my career path. His insight and encouragement ignited within me the desire to pursue podiatry when I was uncertain of my life’s direction, ultimately leading me to fulfill my passion for healing and serving others.
