Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke and Hannah Sunderland. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Luke is a professional guitarist, earning a Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Music, both from Belmont University. Some of Luke’s most notable performances have been with Kenzie Wheeler at the Grand Ole Opry, a private event at the Country Music Hall of Fame, and Live in Studio C on Nashville Public Radio.
Hannah is an educator who has earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Education. She has taught all around the world, from Southeast Asia to Southeast Nashville. She loves showing her creativity through music, art, and even through restoring furniture.
For the past couple of years, Luke has been teaching in-home guitar lessons around Nashville. Instead of the student driving to a music studio, Luke would drive to the student’s home to provide a private in-home lesson. After gaining some teaching experience, Luke decided to branch out and start Harmony Home Music LLC with his wife, Hannah. Harmony Home provides in-home lessons, but instead of solely teaching guitar, Luke and Hannah have hired several teachers to work with students who want to learn piano, voice, violin, drums, and many other instruments in the comfort of their own home.
Faith is a big part of our story. Harmony Home’s mission is to provide exceptional in-home music lessons while demonstrating the love of Christ through our daily interactions with our students and their families.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
God has provided for us and has shown us that He is in control.
It’s been scary going out on a limb and launching our business, but we have seen how good He is as he has continued to bring us amazing teachers and wonderful students.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Harmony Home Music LLC?
We provide in-home music lessons that offer a respite from your fast-paced routine. Parents are always rushing around and driving their kids to after-school activities.
We decided we wanted to not only provide music lessons for a student, but peace for their parent. We come to you so you, as a parent, can take a breather and not have to be in a rush to take your child to their music lesson. Our company name holds a double meaning. Harmony is a musical concept, but it also describes peace. Our goal is to bring music and peace to your home.
Signing up for lessons is very simple:
1. You would either call, email, or text us what instrument you’re interested in signing up for. We will provide you with a quote and set up a time for a consultation call.
2. During our consultation call, we would learn more about you and your musical goals, and we would provide you with more info about lessons.
3. We will connect you with a teacher, and they will come to your home to teach you whatever instrument you signed up for.
We also host recitals at the end of each semester. This isn’t mandatory for a student to attend. It’s just a way for them to showcase what they’ve been working on with their teacher.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My parents are both business owners and have offered me great advice.
I’m also thankful for my friends Brooks and Walker, who meet with me bi-weekly to discuss business goals and offer great advice. Community is such a crucial element of our lives!
