Today, we’d like to introduce you to Trinity Wiseman.
Hi Trinity, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My grandma swears that I started singing with her in her living room when I was two years old. I first started writing songs and learned how to play guitar when I was eight years old, mostly because I was absolutely in love with Taylor Swift. I found such a strong passion for writing and creating my music. From there, I started playing gigs at 12 and started making trips to Nashville from Pittsburgh to write with other songwriters.
Once I was 15, I signed a publishing deal with Nashville Cool, formerly Riser Music. As a staff writer, I was able to collaborate with a myriad of songwriters and develop who I was as an artist. By 18, I had won every major singer/songwriter contest in Pittsburgh and decided to pursue a Music Business degree at Belmont University. I was super excited to connect with my professors and other students who were going to be the future of the music industry.
However, the world was completely turned on its head during my sophomore year when the pandemic hit. I was sent home and decided to take that time to write as much as I possibly could. Throughout the rest of my time in college, I was perfecting my craft and trying to better myself as an artist in every way possible by releasing multiple projects and collaborating with other incredibly talented individuals. By graduation, I decided to devote my time solely to my music career.
I’m finally at a point where I have a strong sense of identity and feel confident in every song I participate in. I recently released an EP and a single I worked on with Daniel Diaz, an incredibly skilled producer out of Nashville. I’m writing new material and playing gigs full-time to support myself.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think it’s not a secret to anyone that the music industry is not for the faint-hearted. It can be difficult to stay motivated and true to yourself when you don’t know the right answer or the right path.
I had a house fire where I lost all of my possessions, and I’ve had moments where I doubted myself, but when it comes down to it, music is my therapy. It is the thing that brings me the most joy and happiness. It’s essential to who I am at my core.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist and singer/songwriter. I pride myself on my storytelling and ability to write from my soul. I am incredibly proud of my projects as an artist and the music that I have created. I think what sets me apart is my dedication, work ethic, and vulnerability.
I’m constantly honing my craft and putting my best foot forward. I believe that, as an artist, you have to tell your story because no one else can tell it for you. You have to be comfortable confronting the deepest parts of yourself while turning them into something you want to share with others.
How do you define success?
I consider success when somebody feels something when they listen to my music. Whether they relate to it or feel comforted by it, it’s all essential to me. Music is the universal language, and if people can understand what you’re saying, that’s all you can ask for.
