Life & Work with Taylor Davidson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Davidson. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Taylor Davidson

Taylor Davidson is a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Dallas, Texas, currently based in Nashville, TN.

She began her love for music at an early age and was performing and writing songs at 11 years old. With her sweet, controlled voice, Taylor packs a punch with daring, unexpected vocal grit that blurs the lines between the Pop Country and Indie Alternative worlds.

Over the past seven years, Taylor has performed at numerous festivals and venues all over the DFW and Nashville area. Taylor is lighthearted, fun, and creative, with an incredible ability to make people feel special.

Taylor released her first two singles, “Lonely” and “Lighting Matches,” in 2020 and, since then, has released her four-song debut Ep “Tragedy” in the fall of 2021. She just recently released “Most Wanted” and “A Thousand Suns,” the first two singles off of her second EP, and is looking forward to a new single, “Haunted House,” coming out May 17th, 2024.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an artist definitely isn’t the easiest career path, but for myself, I have found it the most rewarding. Being able to express yourself creatively through music is worth every time you hear the word “No” or feel like you don’t know where to head next.

There have been many times when I have felt discouraged in my music journey, but I have learned to take failure and mistakes and use them to get back up and try again. Whether it’s mental/physical health issues, comparison, heartbreak, rejection, or other hardships in life, taking yourself back to why you started in the first place is crucial.

At the end of the day, all the fame and success you can get in the world would mean nothing if you don’t have the passion and love for the songs. Songwriting is a huge part of my life, and I know I will always be able to go back to my guitar, even on my worst days.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I love to perform, sing, and play guitar, but one of my biggest passions is songwriting. I love to tell stories in my songs, whether it’s about something I went through or a story I came up with that I thought would make a cool song.

Growing up, I looked up to so many artists who told stories in their songs that I resonated with. My hope with my songs is that I can do the same thing for others. I want people to listen to my songs and feel less alone in whatever they are going through. Music has the incredible power to move people and bring them together, and that’s why I write songs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think luck is an interesting topic to discuss when talking about the music industry. A lot of people say that it takes talent, hard work, and a little luck to make you successful. I don’t contribute any of my wins or losses to luck. I am a Christian, so I believe that everything is in God’s hands.

Whether I get a great opportunity or get told no to an opportunity that I really want, I like to believe that it’s all for the best. I trust that He has a plan for me and a purpose, and I know that it has something to do with music.

Some people call it luck, being at the right place at the right time, etc, but I think that everything happens for a reason, and I trust that it will all work out because of God’s will for my life. However I do feel very lucky and blessed to be able to do music and follow my dreams.
