Today, we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Russell.
Hi Olivia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I was born and raised on a family farm about an hour east of Nashville. The river bottom overlooking the Cumberland River was where we planted tobacco as a kid. I was brought up watching my family work hard and pray harder. I learned at an early age that hard work and consistent prayer made a difference.
I also learned that bank account amounts weren’t the gauge of the real meaning of “Success.” In middle school, this farm kid really took a liking to clothes, and putting outfits together from what I had in the closet – or from the bedroom floor. I was really drawn to creating/transforming what I had into something fashion-forward and unique – but on a budget that was nonexistent, considering I was in middle school.
It was odd because I never really had “a style”; I just went with whatever I felt like that day. Sometimes, it is boots, sometimes girly, and sometimes not. I graduated college with a Marketing degree, knowing I wanted to do something in that category. I always knew no matter what it was. I was going to do my best and work hard at it. As a lot of people have experienced, I was lost after college. I worked hard but things in life just really weren’t going into motion how I felt they needed to be.
Notice what I said there – “How I felt they needed to be.” It took nearly a decade of failures, hurts, self-destruction, and “almost.” That decade later is now. The hard times, the long nights, the trying hard but not seeing results was such a HARD time. I have finally realized none of this life is on my timing. It’s on God’s timing.
What a hard thing to learn, friends. I enjoy my career today, I am fulfilled, I am challenged and I am grateful for each and every client that has trusted me with their home. Today, I work hard each and every day to give my clients the kitchen of their dreams!
On-site measurements, 3D images, and complete installs. I have worked for Eurostone for four years as lead design, project manager, and sales. It seriously strikes my soul when a client says, “I trust your design; you do what you think is best.” What an honor!”
I am a respecter of budgets, I love when a client says this is my budget and this is the look I’m going for. In and out of homes every day, meeting families, learning their needs in their kitchen, and putting together a design that works for them are my things! And I love it!
So many old beautiful homes in Nashville that are being restored and I love being a part of it. I am so blessed with my clientele. The builders that call me and trust me and the families that see my posts and message me, it is all such a blessing. I work so hard to bring my client’s dreams to life, and ya’ll… it is SUCH a joy to see the transformations.
Transformations, growth, positive change – I love seeing it! Inside and outside. This is where I finally learned about the “consistent prayer” part of life. What’s work if God’s not in it?? Hard work and consistent prayer move mountains where true success in life can be found.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Absolutely not.
When I started in the construction/design/project management industry, I knew nothing about cabinets or countertops. I simply thought cabinets were a box on the wall. Boy, was I wrong? I spent the first year here at Eurostone walking job sites, learning how to measure for plans and every detail about cabinetry and stone.
Granite, quartz, quartzite, marbles… many so facts to learn about them, fabrication of them, and how to make them beautiful in a client’s home. Not to mention, the cabinetry and stone industry is dominated by men. It has been the best personal growth!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I work with several contractors, builders, restoration companies, and residential homeowners throughout Middle Tennessee. I specialize in cabinetry and stone – New builds or Renovations. We offer on-site visits, measurements, 3D images, and full installations.
I exceed in meeting budgets, and 5-star client reviews trusting me in their home. They trust me to make the BEST space for their sweet families to grow in. What an honor. That is a success!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Pray harder and friends.
