Meet Carlos Be

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Be.

Carlos Be

Hi Carlos, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Carlos Bernal, and I am a Venezuelan DJ who loves playing house music. I grew up surrounded by music and started learning how to DJ when I was 18. It is my greatest passion in life. Back in Venezuela, I was the resident DJ at the most famous club in my city. In 2018, I emigrated from Venezuela to the USA, and although ‘starting over’ was difficult, music was always there to support me. Once in Nashville, I joined the music scene and started playing gigs at different events and clubs. I started a music label called VAGABUNDOS with my friend and business partner Juan Carpio, and we like to throw parties whenever we can. I love creating spaces for people to enjoy life and dance. A highlight in my career was playing at Deep Tropics, an EDM festival in Nashville, in 2023.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As an immigrant, I have faced many challenges along the way. I had to teach myself English, make new friends, find a new community, and get my ‘foot in the door’ with clubs and bookers around town. A lot of work goes into DJing and throwing parties that most people don’t need to consider.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am constantly pushing myself to improve my craft (DJing). I am known for having a unique style and original sound with high BPMs.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
My favorite thing about Nashville is the people. My community here has allowed me to grow professionally and personally. My least favorite part is the winter season. Being from South America, I like warm weather.
