Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Redmon.
Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
After seeing the Budweiser Frogs commercial during the 1995 Super Bowl, I fell in love with being paid for ideas. I went on to study Strategic Communication at the University of Minnesota and have spent my career developing visual ideas for clients in all industries. As a design professional for over 18 years, I have served as Vice President of Creative Services for the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. I managed a team marketing Music City’s $9.2 billion hospitality industry, including the 2019 NFL Draft. I served as Graphic Design Chair at O’More College of Design, where I was fortunate enough to train young designers. My husband and I currently run a Nashville-based design firm that helps business owners unlock their brand’s full potential.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
For 19 years, self-doubt and imposter syndrome have been the most consistent obstacles to creativity. I started running four years ago, which has helped change my pattern of negative self-talk. Starting a business has also been a significant undertaking. As a right-brained creative, I have had to learn so much about the reality of owning a business. I would have given up without the support of many business-savvy supporters in my corner!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We help business owners find their unique voice, clarify their cause, and confidently stand out with a brand that sells. We believe that when small businesses succeed, families, economies, and communities do better—everyone benefits. However, small businesses can’t grow if their audience can’t find or tell them apart from their competition. That’s where we come in. We are Jess and Justin Redmon. In 2021, we combined our passions for design and illustration and started Apple & Anchor to help small businesses uncover their unique voice and identity. “Apple” is a traditional symbol of knowledge, representing Jess’s 18 years in graphic design. “Anchor” represents Justin’s 13 years as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy. After 18+ years of design experience, we’ve learned what works (and doesn’t) when building an effective brand.
We guide business owners, step-by-step, to help them:
- Uncover their unique differentiators
- Gain confidence in their brand’s voice
- Stand out from the competition with a unique visual ID
- Create consistent and professional websites and marketing materials
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
