Rising Stars: Meet Courtney Paige of Downtown/Germantown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Paige

Hi Courtney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in the Bluff City of Memphis, TN. I moved to Nashville in the summer of 2019 to attend the Illustrious Tennessee State University. TSU is where I began to take content creation more seriously in an effort to grow my Instagram profile. I would take pictures all around campus. When the pandemic started and I had to return to Memphis, I had more time to explore the world of creating content and being a social media influencer. During this time, I learned a great deal about editing content and fostering a community on social media. Ever since, I have continued to create social media content and have even had the opportunity to work with brands like PrettyLittleThing, etc.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This road definitely has a plethora of ups and downs, and that is to be expected. Due to the nature of content creation, you must have endless nee video/picture ideas. This could lead to burnout — especially if being a social media influencer is not your full time gig. People really do underestimate the amount of time and effort that is put into creating quality material.

Though those are some of the biggest challenges that content creators/influencers face, one of the biggest challenges that I faced, personally, along the way is remaining passionate about what you are doing, At one point, I felt as if the joy of sharing things with my audience had completely faded. I felt as if I was creating content just to remain consistent, fulfill posting obligations from partner companies, or chasing viral trends.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in creating beauty, fitness, and lifestyle content. I would say that I’m mostly known for posting makeup routines and simplistic workout tricks that anyone can follow. Furthermore, I have been incorporating more content from my day to day life into my social media, especially since I have been traveling more often. I am most proud of my ability to remain relevant with the ever changing trends while being able to express my true personality and interests through my content. After years of ebbs and flows on social media, I think that has helped me maintain my “edge” in the content creation space.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very outgoing and studious child. I always maintained stellar grades in school (all As and some Bs); however, outside of school, I could’ve been considered a busy body. I was always moving around, playing with my brother or cousins, or dancing. I had a heavy interest in cheer as well. Participating in all-star cheer and my school’s dance team is what sparked my interest in beauty. I used to enjoy taking the time to apply my makeup before competitions or football games which led to me practicing on it all of the time. That, subsequently, led to my love of makeup and beauty today!
