Meet Alan Waugh of Birmingham Alabama and Nashville Tennessee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Waugh.

Alan Waugh

Hi Alan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well my business partner and I took a trip together to a music festival in California and he had been wanting to try doing events. I had a background in commercial real estate and hospitality and some experience as a promoter. I presssed him forward and we came up with the name La Calle announced our first event back in Alabama via social media. We did our first event at a Changaro right outside of the city and it was house and techno event with bottomless mimosas and chicken nuggets from chick fil A. We presold 12 tickets and were thrilled that we actually had people attending and willing to buy a ticket. Flash forward our name changed to La Calle 205 and for the past 3 years we have been doing events over all the US and Mexico and currently we host 3-5 events a month. Just this past April we hosted a Bad Bunny Party with a close Collab and sold out the Skydeck on Broadway with over 1,800 people in attendance.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This industry and being a promoter definitely has its ups and downs. You spend so much time planning and creating a perfect party or event and in your eyes it is amazing but to others maybe not. Some events we have the turnout is outstanding. Just last year our Halloween event in Birmingham, AL garnered over 5000 attendees and then some events are not as great.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Honestly it’s our team, the talent, and the many relationships we have forged along the way. We create some unforgettable reggaeton and Latin events/parties with DJ’s from all over and sometimes bring in Latin artist. What really sets us apart is there are two of us and one myself is the business/executor and my partner is the creative and also a DJ. We take pride in the events we put on and we listen to our fans and adjust things as needed along the way.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes, absolutely that in fact even though the rest of the country is fully shut down – Latinos will still find a way to party. Just in a safe and spaced out way!
