Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmaine Tinsley
Hi Jasmaine , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started HERSTORY after I graduated from college back in 2021. I’ve always been a lover of history and got a BA in it as well! So it initially started as a podcast. I had no money or tools, so a college friend of mine Joseph’s sent me a cool microphone as a gift to get started.
Then I shifted the podcast over to YouTube and by that time, I had moved to Nashville for work. I kept going with my YouTube channel and even though I didn’t have a lot of subscribers, people really liked it and started sending their topic suggestions for the week!
About a year ago, I decided to go into Merch. So I released HERSTORY merch, which did not do the best starting out. I realized, I could keep HERSTORY, but I needed to re-brand and come up with something different. So I landed on Belle Vie, which means Beautiful Life. Belle Vie is a brand that represents the beauty and ugliness of history. There have been a lot of really beautiful events and moments curated from some of the most harsh and ugliest times in history!!
Belle Vie is new, so it’s not taking off just yet, but I want everyone to have their own slice of history. No matter how big or small, we are all a part of history. We hold the power to write our own history. We hold the power to learn from the past and allow that to serve as inspiration to do something better.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. It has been very rough. I am nowhere near where I would like to be with my brand and channel. There is a lot of growing and learning to do!
I still struggle now, but that’s because this is new and it is a lot harder than it seems to garner that support and customer base. History is not something that people jump to learn or find interest in.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work as an Account Manager for a 3PL Company. I work with a lot of different customers and truck drivers as well!
It’s an industry that can be very rewarding, but also very taxing as well! The economy dictates how the trucking industry goes a lot of the times. But working in this industry has given me a greater appreciation for truck drivers and those that produce some of our favorite items we have!
I’m proud for stepping out and taking this job. I never worked in logistics before and it was a lot to learn and navigate and I had to work my way up, but it has taught me more about myself and helped me build relationships.
You don’t have to be the loudest in the room to make an impact.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
When I was kid I always loved going to my grandparents house for the weekend!!
I was and still am a huge lover of the GameBoy and she had all the games to go with it! We’d okay it for hours and eat snacks and sometimes my grandma would join in on the gaming fun!
