Hi Rachel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Rachel Davis. I am the artist behind the camera at Sunnylife Photography.

I believe that the simplest moments in life are the most beautiful. I am a wife and a mommy to Layla and Lenny. My greatest inspirations for photography are my daughters and my angel baby boy, Sunny. I’m a natural encourager and also a teacher (first grade & yoga). I enjoy helping other people celebrate their blessings through photography.

I feel passionate about capturing genuine moments. I’ve loved photography from as far back as I can remember. It was after our baby boy, Sunny, went to heaven at six month old, that I became passionate about photography as storytelling. Photography is a sure way to capture a moment, a feeling, an experience, or a season that we want etched in our minds forever.

Photography is a beautiful gift that allows us to hold onto the moments that mean the most in life. I’m so happy to be able to share the gift of photography to help other’s celebrate their life, love, and blessings.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My photography business has been a steady journey filled with ups and downs. There have been struggles and learning moments along the way. I use each learning moment to guide my business in such a way that I can better meet the needs of my clients.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a lifestyle photographer based in middle Tennessee. Love is the guiding force for my business. It is the greatest inspiration for all of my work. I photograph maternity, motherhood, couples, families, newborns, weddings, and more.

I am most proud of photo sessions where my clients get lost in the moment and have fun together. I love it when my clients pay less attention to the camera and more attention to each other. Those sessions allow me to capture genuine and authentic emotions. I love images where you can feel the emotion. That’s what it is all about for me.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband, my parents, and my sister have been my biggest supporters. They’re always cheering me on and encouraging me to try new things. I’m constantly bouncing business ideas off of them and they give me genuine feedback and lots of encouragement. I’m forever grateful for that from each of them.
