Hi Ty, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Seven years ago, I moved to Nashville from Istanbul for an internship at an architecture firm, where I joined the residential studio team. During this time, I developed a deep understanding of architectural design and project management. However, as I gained experience, I realized I aspired to be more than an architect—I wanted to be an entrepreneur.

Driven by this new ambition, I embarked on a journey of self-education. I immersed myself in reading books on business, listening to insightful podcasts, watching countless hours of instructional videos, and, most importantly, learning from the successful people around me. These experiences have shaped my entrepreneurial spirit and prepared me to build and lead my own ventures.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am today has certainly had its share of challenges. The most significant struggle has been navigating life and career without the advantage of growing up in the U.S. Starting from scratch in a new country, I had to learn cultural nuances and build a professional network without the usual support system of family and friends.

Establishing myself in Nashville has been particularly challenging. I’ve had to work diligently to create connections and find my place within the community. It’s an ongoing process, but these experiences have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of perseverance. Despite the hurdles, each challenge has been an opportunity for growth and has shaped my journey in meaningful ways.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Many people who know me or are familiar with Fabl Design might be surprised to learn about my diverse background and interests. I had the honor of playing chess on the national youth team of Turkey, and I also have a passion for public speaking and presenting ideas.

Playing chess at a national level has deeply influenced my professional journey. Chess is a game of strategy, foresight, and precision, skills that I carry into every project at Fabl Design. The ability to anticipate and plan several moves ahead is invaluable in architecture and design, where envisioning the final outcome from the start is crucial. My chess experience has honed my analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, enabling me to tackle complex design challenges with confidence and creativity.

In addition to chess, I thrive on public speaking and presenting ideas. Whether it’s pitching a new design concept to clients or sharing our vision in community forums, I love engaging with audiences and communicating our ideas effectively. This passion for storytelling helps me connect with clients and collaborators, ensuring that our designs resonate with their needs and aspirations. It also translates into how we present our projects visually at Fabl Design, making sure that every idea is clear and compelling.
