Check Out Justin Corley’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Corley

Hi Justin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started out when I was 12. I already knew that I loved to sing, and people would ask me to sing accapella all the time, so it was great when my grandpa gave me a guitar that my great grandfather owned for my birthday that year. From there, I started playing at churches around my hometown. When I got into college, I started playing at local bars and venues around there, and just kept going. In December of 2021, I withdrew and finally moved to Nashville in April of 2022.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has definitely been bumpy, but every road is. Anything that’s worth doing doesn’t come easy. In June of 2021, I lost one of my closest friends that I would definitely consider more of a brother than anything else. We were in a band together at the time, and when you’re that close to someone that you make music with, once they leave like that it rocks your world a little bit. It was a rough time period for us after that, and I thought so much about not playing music anymore. It’s been a rough road, but with time and a lot of prayer, I know that I’m doing the right thing by keeping at it. I’ll never stop.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist, that specializes in what I like to call country music with a little bite. I’ve always loved country music, and grunge and all other types of rock/metal music. When I was in high school, I got into the Texas rock sound, and fell in love with that. The music, along with the subject matter helped me through a lot of problems that I had been dealing with, and that’s kind of inspired me to do what I’m trying to do now. We’ve all been that kid that’s going through it, and found an artist or song that has songs that feel like they’re singing directly to you. I’m trying to help people like those songs helped me, because you never know when somebody needs to feel like they’re not alone in a situation. I think not being afraid to talk or sing about certain things that others wouldn’t is something that’s a little different about me.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was my first concert, naturally. I was a huge Travis Tritt fan, and my Aunt had gotten two tickets to the Newberry Opera House a town over to go see him and asked if I wanted to go. Obviously I said yes. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen, just him sitting down on a stage with his guitar. I knew every song he played, and sang my heart out to every one. That’s an experience I’ll never forget. A few months ago, I had a full circle moment, when I got asked to open for A Thousand Horses, on that very same stage. I’m blessed beyond measure.
