Inspiring Conversations with Lana Jainarain of Take off with Lana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lana Jainarain

Hi Lana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved to Nashville in 2013 and that was my first time “traveling” as I didn’t grow up in a family that traveled.

I went on my first international trip in 2014 and then I started traveling everywhere! I studied abroad in Vienna, Austria for a semester and lived in Bangalore, India for a year. I fell in love with seeing the world and meeting different people.

When I returned to Nashville, I went to grad school and worked at a boutique luxury hotel. I learned the ins and outs of the hotel world during that time and continued to travel any chance I could. I finally made the jump in 2022 to use my experience to plan travel as my full time job!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Becoming a travel advisor takes a lot of work and dedication, but thankfully my love for travel outweighs the challenges. I love that I am always learning and connecting with people. The travel industry is always changing (especially with all of the world events happening today), so it truly takes someone with a passion for hospitality to stick with it. I enjoy keeping up with the industry and my host agency, Fora Travel, has been the best at keeping up with modern travel trends.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Take off with Lana?
I launched my boutique travel agency, Take off with Lana, in January of this year and I have had so much fun helping my clients plan their travel. This career basically fell in my lap after I had been trying out different industries. Travel has always been something I’ve loved and it finally clicked that I could use my knowledge and experience to help others.

I am most proud of the work I’ve put in to build a travel brand that is modern, fun, and provides the best personalized service. With my background in hotels, hospitality, public relations, and a brief time as a therapist, I now specialize in understanding each clients’ lifestyle and suggesting trips that match their travel vibe.

I book all kinds of trips but my favorites are luxury and lifestyle hotels, couples travel, and Europe trips.

Also, did you know it is completely free for you to book with a travel advisor? I can add perks to your reservations at no extra cost.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
In the travel industry it is very important to find a mentor and a huge part of my job is networking and connecting with people.

I know my clients feel secure in working with me because I have personal connections at the properties I send them to! A lot of what I do is based off of trust that I am going to send them to the best property, plan the best experiences and make their special moments worth remembering. I do this by networking, connecting with partners, and visiting new properties myself.
