Today we’d like to introduce you to Gracie Bone
Hi Gracie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Nashville in 2020 to be in a more abundant place to be in the beauty industry as an esthetician. After schooling and going through different jobs in the industry, I felt severe imposter syndrome, I was ready to leave that space and step into a passion that would feed my soul. After doing some content for my esthetician business, I continued creating with my photographer friend just for fun, and casually fell right into my passion of modeling. I began fully creating concepts for myself, from the hair, makeup, styling, to the location and posing. I fell in love with painting a picture in my brain and bringing it to life. I couldn’t get enough of it. I began collabing with photographers monthly, and continuing growing my portfolio at a rapid pace. In a year span, I’ve modeled for three magazines, several clothing brands, campaigns, and editorial shoots. Alongside modeling, I have also dipped into set design and directing, which has brought me to my co-owned organization called The Visual Jam, where we invite all visual artists, build immersive, unique set designs, and open a space that is inviting, supportive, queer friendly, beginner friendly, so that we can create and express our art freely.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have allowed myself to take a smooth road with this creative endeavor. Modeling and set designing feels so right with my soul, and I want to keep it a peaceful, stress free journey as much as I can and take my time with it all. I feel so true to myself and so free when I am engaging in my passion.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a freelance model and set designer. I specialize in editorial looks, but I am very versatile. I would say I am known for always bringing on bold, bright colors, bold poses, and strong face poses. I would say I am most proud of my co-organization the Visual Jam. We had well over 50 artists attend, and it was such a healing experience to have so many humans together creatively expressing. I’m so grateful I was able to give them that space and I can’t wait to continue growing the Visual Jam. I think what sets me apart from others is my eye for style and seeing a bigger picture for producing concepts. Not only can I pose, I can bring as many styled looks as you need, and provide locations, props, etc. I can bring the look to life more strategically than someone who is solely a model.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to continue climbing up the modeling industry, create my own fully directed productions, working under brands that are ethical, as well as continue growing the Visual Jam organization. Another dream job of mine would be a creative director for a high fashion brand or magazine. I want to be fully immersed in this industry and be able to be flexible in many areas of visual art and fashion.
