Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyn Russo
Hi Jocelyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Jocelyn russo I’m a content creator, cinematographer, and artist marketing manger from Pennsylvania. My journey started back in 2019 as a photographer, most of my work was with friends and family documenting memories and having fun. During this time I started a Youtube channel and really go into video and video editing and creating entertaining content. I always enjoyed telling stories and the process of editing. Which lead me into creating content for others in 2021 I moved to New Jersey in hopes to further my career in a creator house. During this time I gained many new long term clients. and continued to work with them once I moved back to PA. Driving from PA to Jersey 3 to 4 times a week just to shoot content really showed me this is what I wanted to do and that I had the drive and motivation to do it. During that time I was invited to my first music festival Governors Ball in NYC as a selected creator. This was the year I also started working with other influencers, and brands. Which lead me into creating and managing their content. In 2022, I produced my first ever long format show. This was the first time I was in the seat of being a producer and director along with editor. It was a 3 camera operation utilizing every once of gear I could provide just to make sure it was as cinematic and tv show oriented as possible with no budget. The dynamic of this show was bringing in athletes and celebrities into family owned restaurants to help regain business after the effects of covid. It really was the moment I realized what I wanted to be in the producer chair and take charge of the content being provided to viewers. Which brings us into 2024 starting my new mini documentaries called behind the brand which showcases small businesses and entrepreneurs and artist and their stores. I now travel full time with bands and artist. With DDR Entertainment. As a tour manager and social media manager and feel like I finally found where I belong.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being in business is a huge learning experience I learn something new or something I could do better everyday. I think my biggest lesson is going with my gut if something doesn’t feel right there is a reason for that don’t scarifies who you are and your talent because your scared that one option or client is your only way to be successful and get somewhere. Where one door closes another one will open. Being on the road full time also comes with its struggles we often celebrate birthdays on the road. Miss moments like Mothers day or Fathers day. Or deal with family tragedies together. But it all has shaped me as a creator. I don’t think id be as strong of a creative today without these moments or lessons.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in content creation and marketing. Im most proud of the creator I’m growing into being with DDR Entertainment. Which was Founded by Dustin Rehrig in September of 1995, which has been in development for the past 24 years to offer bands/artists a full package of support for their careers in the music business.
Being apart of the DDR team has sculpted me into who I want to be in the industry allowing me to gain skills in tour managing, and artist content managing. All while still being able to work on my craft as a content creator. This company really showed me I’m capable of anything.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Over the years I have had a lot of people inspire me my favorite being my grandmother she was my number one supporter sense the day I picked up a camera she would watch every video, comment on every post and would always be excited to hear about my up and coming work and adventures. She was a very strong woman who overcame so much in her lifetime and has always inspired me to keep going.
