Life & Work with Megan Allen of Bellevue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Allen

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2013, I graduated with a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Ohio University. Shortly after, I moved to Nashville, where I met my now husband, and have called it home ever since. My career began on the rehabilitation floor at TriStar Skyline, where I gained invaluable experience for a few years. In 2016, I transitioned to Metro Nashville Public Schools, eventually becoming a lead speech-language pathologist, overseeing a team of over 100 SLPs.

However, after having my own children and working in various settings, I found myself yearning for more time with my family while still wanting to pursue my passion for speech-language pathology. With the unwavering support of my husband and family, I founded Tiny Seeds Therapy. Our private clinic offers in-home speech, language, and feeding therapy to children in Nashville, Tennessee.

At Tiny Seeds Therapy, we provide individualized pediatric therapy services designed to support both the children and their families on their unique communication journeys. We are committed to creating a neurodiversity-affirming and nurturing environment. Our therapy is child-led and play-based, rooted in the belief that building meaningful connections with children is the key to unlocking their potential.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The first six months of transitioning from a full-time working mom to a stay-at-home entrepreneur were incredibly challenging. It was a period of self-discovery and adjustment to my new normal. The initial phase of establishing Tiny Seeds Therapy was equally demanding, as getting my name out there and building a pipeline of clients and referrals required significant effort.

However, after starting to accept insurance and becoming a vendor for the Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS), my business began to thrive. Today, Tiny Seeds Therapy is flourishing, and I am grateful for the journey that brought me here.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I founded Tiny Seeds Therapy. Our private clinic offers in-home speech, language, and feeding therapy to children in Nashville, Tennessee. At Tiny Seeds Therapy, we believe that collaborative efforts between therapists and the families we serve are a crucial piece to children succeeding. We stand out by actively involving families in the therapy journey, equipping them with effective strategies and tools to support their child’s development. Our approach is designed to empower parents and caregivers, ensuring they feel confident and capable in fostering their child’s communication skills. By creating a supportive and inclusive environment, we help children and their families navigate their unique communication journey together, making progress both in and out of therapy sessions.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Jena Castro-Casbon and her work have been crucial in helping me navigate my private practice journey. She has a podcast called ‘Private Practice Success Stories’ and a Facebook group for fellow clinicians that are on the path or have started their own practice.

In my personal life, I love listening to Podcasts when I have time. I am a big fan of Beautiful Stories by Anonymous People and have been following it for years. Other that that, I listen to the Calm Parenting Podcast and Dr. Becky is great too!
