Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started out my online business journey in 2020 during my maternity leave with my son. I had grown tired of the corporate world and hated having my daughter in before and after care. I was only able to spend time with Claire for an hour or so at night and I was always so worn out from work and from driving back and forth 45 minutes each way (or more if there were any wrecks on I-24!). Since I had some FMLA time, I decided now was the best time to make the jump and start my business. Christina Kay Virtual Solutions was born!

I began as a general virtual assistant, helping other online business owners with their admin tasks and social media content. As I continued working with different clients on their websites and emails, I was reminded of my love for tech and writing. Back when I was in middle and high school I loved creating my own little websites and editing code for my MySpace page. I’ve also always really loved writing and was ecstatic to be able to find work where I could use and build these skills!

I slowly began niching down to offering only copywriting and sales funnel strategy. This kind of work is incredibly fulfilling for me and I decided it was time to change my business name to something less generic and more fitting – The Funnel Faerie!

I’ve been blessed to work with many clients who are impact-driven and focused on really helping people and changing the world with their unique gifts.

Although there have been lots of struggles, starting my business is one of the best decisions I’ve made yet!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Lots of struggles! Especially in the beginning when I was charging less and working so much more. General VA tasks are not always fun and can sometimes be incredibly repetitive. I am a creative person and found myself working on things that didn’t intrigue me and became tired and frustrated.

There are also slow months, days where family issues arise or kids are sick and I’m just not able to get as much done.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Since my business launched and I had my youngest child during lockdown, Covid ended up being an important time in my life. I have always been a hermit but learning to live with our entire family (my boyfriend at the time, daughter and newborn son) without leaving much did come with its own challenges and struggles. I am grateful for that time and grateful that my son’s dad was able to spend more time with our son than he would have otherwise.
