Rising Stars: Meet Shateka Reed of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shateka Reed

Hi Shateka , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Shateka Reed I’m originally from Kankakee, IL but currently live in Nashville, TN. I’m a content creator of fashion and food, also a Mother of a teenager.

I started my content creator journey about 6 years ago when I lived in Louisville, Ky. Louisville is where it all started. I began visiting my local thrift stores and grabbing pieces that spoke to me. I’m a 90s baby so vintage is my thing. I absolutely love 90s fashion! I started posting on Instagram and received positive attention so I kept going with that.

Im grateful for being introduced to thrifting and the whole journey overall. I took some time off, thrifting and started venturing out to new opportunities.

I had a chance to style for NYFW 2019 and walked as a model in 2021. Amazing experience. Shout out to Fllumae for the opportunity! Over the years I have been feature in blogs, brands, it’s still crazy to me what I’ve accomplished. I’m very humble.

As of today I work with major brands such as Yitty, I’ve worked with Torrid, Prettylittlething , BrassyBra etc. I honestly want to get back to thrifting hard so stay tuned for that haha. I love what I do, I love to create and bring it to life, I want to inspire others and let the people know it’s okay to do you and be YOU.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No not so much because I still have to deal with everyday life. Things happen and it can put a pause on things. I had my days, even some months where I didn’t create due to my health but once I got back up, I was back to work.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a content creator, micro influencer as some would call it. I work with major brands and make content for my viewers such as fashion and also food content from time to time. I’m most proud of my accomplishments seeing my photos on a major websites still amazes me. I don’t think much of it but I’m like wow.
What set me apart from others is my style, I don’t try to be like everyone else. I just do me.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
To keep going no matter what, we live in a real world where things happen in life, but if you’re passionate about something keep going. Keep God first in everything you do. I wouldn’t have the opportunities if I didn’t keep trying and putting myself out there. I will keep it up until my next journey comes. It’s not a race, things that are worth it takes time.
