Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessie Manos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Manos.

Jessie Manos

Hi Jessie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I come from a high-spirited Italian family in suburbs of Los Angeles, CA. Growing up, I was drawn to photography very early on. I went on to earn my BFA in Photography and Video from the New York School of Visual Arts. At the time, I honestly didn’t think I would have much of a future in photography. It’s a very interesting industry to navigate, especially at that age.

When I arrived in Nashville, I was connected with a local jewelry business. After some time working in their retail store, I eventually got the itch to start photographing again and proposed the idea of me taking on the brand’s photography. My boss was very supportive and gave me the room to rediscover my passion. I truly owe my rediscovery of photography to her. There is something very special about having someone believe in you, your passions, and your motivation to grow. I look forward to being able to do that for someone else down the road.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think the feeling of self-doubt is common among creatives. No one is going to critique your work as tough as you will. Getting out of my own path has been a struggle at times. I can think back on countless times where I missed opportunities because I was standing in my own way, thinking I couldn’t do it. However, it is an incredible feeling when you are finally able to step aside and feel proud of yourself for laying the groundwork and moving forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer who loves to work with people. I am drawn to quiet moments and small details. I would say my ability to connect with others emotionally sets me apart. Being in front of the camera is undesirable for most individuals, so my number one priority is to make sure that my clients feel comfortable and at ease so I can capture their essence. I also love working with brands. Collaborating with a team to bring their brand’s vision to life always pushes me to create with intention.

How do you define success?
Feeling proud of what you have accomplished while feeling excited about what is around the corner.
