Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenlynn Craker
Hi Brenlynn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a 2014 Graduate of AMUA-Nashville. I have always had a creative side and after moving from WI in 2010, I decided to pursue a makeup career. Right after graduating, I was hired by a producer to help her get her series off the ground. I was full time hair/makeup/personal assistant. When that project ended, I found other work with photographers, music industry people, and various other outlets.
My passion is music videos and photo shoots as well as film. I love the aspect of getting to know my clients and working with them for an entire day or two (or weeks) to create a great relationship and bonds of a lifetime.
Beside my love for the hair and makeup world, I am married with 4 grown children and a mini aussiedoodle.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When covid hit, as with many others, my work came to a screeching hault. I think a lot of people decided thru watching a few you tube videos, they could just do their own makeup. While that is great for them, it really affected my ability to get work. I think the industry as a whole is coming back and work is picking up which I am so thankful for.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most proud of the lasting friends I have made over the past 10 years. My clients are loyal to me and are so kind. I love making everyone feel like a king or queen when I am with them. I have other makeup artist friends that I can rely on to help me out on bigger shoots or events and that makes booking me so much easier for the client. They know I can take a job and get the right artists on the job with me to make everything run smoothly and the talent look great.
I pride myself in being available for more than just hair and makeup. I love to help small crews with all the miscellaneous jobs that normally get hired out but because of budget, they need everyone to step up and help. I have no problem doing this for any of my clients and I think they appreciate that.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Over the years, I have had so many supporters. Whether it be a client who writes a great review, tags me in photos, refers me to another client or mentions me on an album cover that I was apart of–they all are my biggest supporters. My family is also so amazing in encouraging me to keep going and not get caught up in the things that don’t matter.
