Today we’d like to introduce you to Clary Butler
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I pastored for 20 years, most recently in Chicago at one of the highest attended churches in America, Willow Creek Community Church.
I retired from pastoring and re-entered private life. I became a student at Harvard University, studying Corporate Finance. The global pandemic came and not long after that I received a call from my mother stating, the senior leader of my father’s church passed away. I was on a plane home (Charleston, SC) the next day to help my father organize and do my part leading the House of God.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth because change is not easy for people of any age, especially an aging population but God has clearly ordered our steps.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a lawyer by trade. Professionally I’m a consultant and former professor for business organization and development. My ministry title is bishop. I’m most proud of my family and their commitment to serve others instead of themselves. What sets me a part = results. I have been privileged to successfully lead endeavors that have produced significant quality improvement and substantial exponential growth at every turn…. Trinity International University – most outstanding department, Creating the young professionals ministry within Willow Creek Community Church (an increase in over 1,000 attendees). House of God Church – highest attended assembly in 121 years. Fastest growing church (numerically) in America. 30 new churches in India. New jurisdictions in The Bahamas, Texas, California, Alabama and more.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Leading a group of my peers (at 10 years old) to the neighborhood civic meeting to prevent our basketball court from being torn down. 30 years later the court still stands.
