Biography
Joshua Parker, known as DJ Parker, has over 20 years in the music industry. He began branding Unique Beatz in 2003, Which has generated quite the following over the past few years.
A native of Northern Indiana, he continues to work closely with his local communities. He has opened for artists including Florida Georgia Line, Trailer Choir, and has hosted artists including Night Owl Country Band, Hunter Lott, T Graham Brown and more.
Unique Beatz has been nominated 5 times each in the ISSA Awards and the SocialStars Awards and once in the Who’s Hoo Country Music Awards. Silver Award Winner in 2021 and Bronze Award Winner in 2022 for the ISSA Awards, 3 Time Top 5 Finalist in SocialStars Awards and Radio Station of the Year Winner in 2022 Who’s Hoo Awards.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been anything but smooth, though it’s been incredibly rewarding. The music industry is notoriously challenging, but it’s also where my passion lies. From the start, I was committed to building a business around something I love—music. My journey began with playing music with my father, two uncle’s and planning my first studio, which was a deeply fulfilling experience.
In October 2019, I envisioned opening my first studio. However, just a month later, the pandemic struck, forcing me to pivot and relocate to Tennessee for music opportunities. Despite the challenges, building relationships in Tennessee was a significant and rewarding part of my journey. The support of incredible people like Lynn Wallace and Doug “Toast” Toalston was crucial in making my time there successful. I also owe a great deal of gratitude to Jerry Martin of J.L. Martin Designs & Social Stars World Wide, whose contributions to our graphic design work have been invaluable since day one.
Aside from the pandemic, the journey has been a mix of highs and lows, as with any business. The key has been to stay positive and resilient through it all. Knowing how to navigate these ups and downs has been essential to my success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In 2003, I envisioned creating a business that blended my passion with a sustainable career. Inspired by my family’s dissatisfaction with their 9-to-5 jobs, I decided to pursue something I truly enjoyed. That led to the founding of Unique Beatz.
At Unique Beatz, we specialize in providing a comprehensive range of music-related services. Our focus is on professionalism, building a strong network of dedicated individuals, and fostering loyalty. We aim to be a one-stop shop for all things music, from production to promotion.
I’m most proud of the journey and the meaningful relationships I’ve built within the music industry. These connections with like-minded professionals are what truly set us apart and make Unique Beatz unique in this competitive field.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
For finding a mentor or networking effectively, position yourself around like-minded individuals. I’ve been fortunate to connect with some of the best in the music industry by actively seeking out and shadowing professionals whose work I admire. This has been invaluable for learning and growing in the field.
What has worked well for me is focusing on building genuine relationships and demonstrating a shared passion for music. At Unique Beatz, our motto is “It’s more than music,” which reflects our commitment to creating meaningful connections while pursuing our love for music. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, and always be open to learning from those who have achieved what you aspire to.
