Life & Work with Aaron Johnson of Nashville, TN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Johnson

Hi Aaron, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Aaron Johnson, also known as AJ or “chicoBANG”. Im 23 years old & currently work in the music industry. I recently moved out to Nashville from Fredericksburg, VA to further my career. I’ve been creating music from and Artist standpoint for about 12+ years but I’ve been working on sound and engineering for the past few months. I still invest my time in making music but at the moment I’ve taken a pause to help my childhood friend build a local brand called “DropShopNash”. We own a studio in Nashville but we don’t limit ourselves to just that. Every Monday we bring guest speakers to give their testimony and what it’s like to work in the music industry as an artist/producer. The main goal is to help the underground community of Nashville with any unanswered questions they might have about the lane they are pursuing. I look forward to releasing more music myself and helping other artists/producers reach their potential as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been. There are days when you don’t want to get out of bed or do anything because you’re juggling many things at once and feel overwhelmed. You have to tell yourself you have a dream you’re chasing and it’s not going to chase itself. I’m a firm believer in Jesus Christ and when hardships are thrown at me, I turn to him for guidance and keep a strong faith.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I make music of all genres. Rap, Rnb, Country Rap, Afro, Rock Music, you name it! I believe my abilities to do so comes with experience and consistency. As I said earlier, I’ve been around music for 12+ years so hearing all genres of.m music constantly enables me to experiment in the studio and somewhat replicate what I’ve heard, but make it my own sound. I’m most proud of who I’ve worked with, built a relationship with in the industry, and my progression as an Artist. What separates me from other is I’m not afraid to try new things. In other words I love stepping out of my comfort zone because you never know what could come out of it. I feel that’s what holds us back, not just as artists, but as a human race. Many are scared to step out of their comfort zone when you never know what this results could look like until you try.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I would say it’d be surprising to know how fast of a learner I am. I’ve been put in situations where it was only me there to figure out something wrong, but I’d have no knowledge on the subject. My ability to put pieces together and use common sense to solve something is my greatest character trait. I thank the Lord for blessing me with that my whole life.
