Exploring Life & Business with Tammy Richardson of Fairytales and Sunsets Travel, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Richardson

Hi Tammy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hey there! I’m Tammy Richardson, the proud owner of Fairytales and Sunsets Travel, LLC, located in my hometown of Columbia, TN. I launched my agency in 2019, after spending five incredible years in the travel industry planning amazing vacations. My dream is to continue helping couples and families bond over unforgettable travel experiences. Imagine the thrill of your first stroll along Jamaica’s iconic Seven Mile Beach, or the joy of exploring several enchanting European countries, or witnessing your child’s eyes light up the moment they see Cinderella’s Castle for the first time. These are just a few of the travel moments I love planning for clients.

Growing up, family vacations weren’t a thing for me. But when I graduated college with my Bachelor’s degree, I was gifted a trip to Disney World. That trip sparked an undying love for Disney and family vacations. On that journey home, I told my family I’d work for Disney one day. Little did I know, that dream would morph into owning my own travel agency!

As a female entrepreneur continuing a proud family tradition of business ownership, I pour my heart into every client’s travel plans. I review every detail, considering all the steps clients might not have even thought of. My globetrotting adventures have given me firsthand knowledge, enabling me to offer clients unparalleled insights and connections. This has allowed me to build relationships with resort managers and staff, plus our business partners. When there is a concern or just adding that extra touch to their vacation experience, the relationships are invaluable.

Today, Fairytales and Sunsets Travel, LLC, is a multi-million-dollar agency with a dedicated team of eight travel professionals from across the United States. I am truly blessed to blend my passions for travel and business while working with amazing clients and an extraordinary team.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has had challenges. I opened my own agency in 2019 without a lot of knowledge about business ownership. I have learned from mistakes and networking with other business professionals. The years 2020 and 2021 presented significant challenges for the travel industry, leading to considerable revenue and salary losses. Despite these obstacles, the journey to recovery and rebuilding has been a testament to our resilience and dedication. Over the past two years, Fairytales and Sunsets Travel, LLC, has not only rebuilt but is now thriving. We are grateful to our clients who have trusted us with their vacations. I truly do not think we could have survived without each other our colleagues that helped cheer us on and supported us during those years.

As you know, we’re big fans of Fairytales and Sunsets Travel, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Fairytales and Sunsets Travel, LLC, we are dedicated full-time travel professionals, passionately working five days a week to deliver exceptional travel experiences. What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Nashville. It has so many unique things to experience with southern charm. Least like: the traffic.
