Rising Stars: Meet Grant Wicker of Wedgewood Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grant Wicker

Hi Grant, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in construction since I was 16. I’ve worked concrete, tile, granite before leaving for the military at 21 where I served as an army sniper in the 82nd airborne. I got out at 25 then went got my MBA at liberty university while being a project manager for a multi family developer in Nashville. I soon found myself wanting to go back into residential construction and I’ve always enjoyed tile and being apart of the whole process. I think a home is so important and it should give you the vibes you want. . So I decided to start my own remodeling company and keep the process very intimate and achieving people’s dream look

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was a very hard start. I had trouble getting my name out there. I took some subcontract work but it was not my ultimate dream being able to bring people fully custom dream remodels so I just kept my head down and kept pushing till I finally got my first project and after that everything really came together

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in tile work. I do full remodels but tile is usually the center piece of everything. I would say I’m known for always being on time haha. I’m most proud of that I am able to be apart of the whole process with the customer and ensure everything is done properly and to standard. What sets me apart from others is my passion and love for the work. I’m usually just as excited or more excited about the project than they are.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I like the atmosphere and food the most. The traffic is the worse.
