Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer Elizabeth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Elizabeth

Hi Jennifer, Can you start by introducing yourself, we’d love to learn more about how you got where you are today?

Growing up music was my outlet and helped me through challenging times. Whether I was feeling down, excited, melancholic, or happy, there always seemed to be an appropriate song for each mood; something that served as a needed distraction or an enchantment to an already delightful day. Regardless of the occasion, it was often country music in particular that I would turn to.

As I continued into high school I stayed true to this passion- pursuing both orchestra (bringing some true fire to the strings of my cello), as well as show choir and women’s choir. This continued into college with my participation in UC’s Symphony orchestra, Women’s Choir, and Cabaret; which allowed me to tour with the groups each year— performing in a number of locations in Charleston (SC) and New Orleans. While I had always known I enjoyed the elation that music could bring, it was these times that helped me develop and discover my love of sharing my talents and performing for others. These experiences exposed me to many different genres of music, however my heart would always lean toward country as my true interest.

In the meantime, I’ve been toying with some song writing of my own, and have had the chance to record a song on my own, though admittedly with rather rudimentary instrumental backing, however even this was an important step in my journey with music; both building my confidence and experience. Only recently, I’ve been given the opportunity to record with some truly talented musicians, song writers, and sound engineers ( in particular in conjunction with Off the Row Productions, organized by PT Houston and songwriter Erin McCaffrey). At the risk of sounding cliche, these few sessions and songs have been a dream come true. I may not know exactly what the future holds for me, however I have an immensely enjoyable time being able to record music and cannot wait to release it for others to (hopefully!) Enjoy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

Opportunities have been difficult to come by to truly bring out my best until recently. While I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in some uniquely talented groups in college, the realities of life also set in. I’m blessed with a loving family – my husband and 2 boys – and am thankful to hold a professional job in my field of study (education and family services), however all of life is give and take, I’ve chosen to dedicate time to ensure I’m successful at work, and can provide a loving and enriching home environment for my children; but this came at the expense of time that I was able to allot to musical ventures. As my oldest has become somewhat more independent and my husband’s position allows him more flexibility on occasions, I’ve been able to rediscover and explore some of my passions from past years – with music at the forefront. I’m excited to see where the future will take me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My passion has always been in country music; and this is the realm that I’m currently exploring and elated to be able to share with others. My first single “Hold On” released on Sept 5th, and my second “One of the Strong Ones” will follow in short order, with more to come! I’m positively on pins and needles to see these songs come out, and am uniquely proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish.
