Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Silacci

Hi Monica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From a young age, I was inspired by the hair and beauty industry, spending time in my mom’s barber shop and attending hair shows. After high school, I found myself doing friends’ hair and makeup for events, which led me to pursue my cosmetology license.

In the early days, I worked out of garages, made house calls, and styled hair for minimal pay, all to gain experience. To cover the cost of living in the Bay Area, I worked at a blow dry bar in San Francisco during the day and as a VIP host at nightclubs, while still making time for house calls for color.

Once I discovered my passion for color, I began working with my mentor and salon owner, Mola. She inspired me tremendously, and together we attended advanced color classes across the country.

I fell in love with the lived-in hair color trend and, after years of working and learning, I now specialize in lived-in color, balayage, color corrections, blondes, and brunettes and have been doing so for over a decade.

Unfortunately for me and my family, CA was no longer a place I seen growth or opportunity so we decided to move here to TN to create a better life for myself and my children. Now that I am here I am so excited to bring my expertise surrounding hair to TN.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The start of my career wasn’t easy. I was often overworked and underpaid. If I could change one thing, I would have started assisting sooner, instead of relying on trial and error or waiting for opportunities to come to me. Once I found the right mentor and invested in further education, everything shifted. My work improved, spoke for itself, and I progressed much faster.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a master hairstylist and colorist with over a decade of experience, recently making the move from California to Tennessee. My specialty is luxury hair care, where I focus on creating flawless lived-in color, balayage, and expert color corrections, all personalized to enhance each client’s individual style.

I believe in the importance of ongoing education to stay ahead of trends and techniques, which helps me build lasting relationships with my clients.

I believe every appointment is an opportunity to connect, understand their vision, and deliver a personalized, high-end experience.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
To keep an open mind. Stay hungry, and know that there is ALWAYS more to learn. You can learn something new from everyone you meet. Also to work with intention, this is not a one size fits all industry.
