Check Out Kristy Zimmerman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Zimmerman

Hi Kristy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always wanted to do hair as a young girl! I had a full time career in the medical field as an Business Office Manager in an Ambulatory Surgery Center at the time the opportunity came my way to buy a salon. The salon was was booth rental at that time and I knew I could keep my career and run the salon. I did this for over 7 years. During those 7 years we went from Booth rent to commissioned employees. I now have employees who enjoy the same benefits as employees in other career fields. We offer Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance as well as Paid Time Off. It was very important to me as a leader to be offer to give my stylists peace of mind by having these benefits available. Coming from a medical background I know the importance of Insurance and have seen the impact of not having it when needed. We have a full service L’anza Healing Center and have been in their Top 100 Salons the past two years. They have the best products for healthy hair we believe on the market!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been A ROAD, not always a smooth one. But the relationships that we have made with our team, their families, and our salon guests have all been worth every hiccup! The biggest struggle for us has been when one of our team members leave to go booth rent. You always take it a little personal because you put some much energy into their growth and development that you feel almost like you are losing a child. But you know they have to do what is best for them and their families.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a salon owner, not a service provider in my company. When I left my medical career, I incorporated a boutique into our salon when we moved next door to our initial suite that is double the size. This was my way of contributing more to our salon and having more to do within our business. I get to purchase affordable trendy fashion to our guests, and I love seeing people shop and mingle while processing or checking out. I feel like I am adding to the overall experience.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I would have to say this is a double edge sword type of question, lol. I think the growth and how quickly it has happened has been a struggle. I really love a small hometown feel like we were 10-15 years ago, but I also know how important it is to grow.
