Inspiring Conversations with Victoria Piccirilli of Kallah Culture Ministries

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Piccirilli

Hi Victoria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Wow, it’s been a journey for sure. I married my High School sweetheart and together we have two, now adult, boys. I’d say everything started back when we were homeschooling. Because being present for their childhood was a priority for me, I built an at-home business that brought me joy, success and flexibility.

It wasn’t long before I was overcommitted, busy juggling business, marriage, parenting, homeschooling, community and church activities.

When I was invited to a silent retreat in 2014 the word “yes” jumped out of my mouth before I could even realize the fullness of the question. I hadn’t fully recognized my own need for refreshment and reflection.

I was nervous leading up to the retreat, wondering if I would be able to stay silent for an entire 48 hours. Worried about all the responsibilities I was leaving behind unattended.

Once the retreat began, I immediately knew this was exactly what I needed. With the distractions of everyday life removed, my mind and heart could rest. I was able to settle into a posture of receiving and started to feel deeply affirmed, grounded and centered.

By the end of the 48 hours, I had a completely new perspective on everything; my life, priorities, and future. I had clarity about my next steps in a way that I had never experienced before.

One thing I knew for sure, this was an experience that everyone needed and I wanted to be part of creating that opportunity.

In 2018, I began hosting quarterly silent retreats around the country. As the popularity and demand for these life-giving retreats grew, I knew I couldn’t continue this alone. In 2020, I organized a team and together we founded Kallah Culture Ministries which hosts Eden-like experiences.

We have hosted 83 retreats, serving 1,214 guests in 22 cities around the country.

It has been so fulfilling for us as an organization to watch how impactful these retreats have been on the lives of our guests. Over the years, we’ve seen attendees step away from silence and back into their lives with simplicity, joy and hope. It brings a profound satisfaction and encouragement to our entire team!

As the world gets more complicated and difficult to navigate, the opportunity to get away to rest, reflect, and reprioritize becomes significantly more valuable.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This is ministry, what hasn’t been a struggle?

There have been many challenges and growth opportunities along the way. Between desiring to be the best wife and mother I can be and balancing my career and calling, it’s been a journey for sure.

The biggest and greatest challenges have always been rooted in overcoming doubt, fear, or other people’s opinions. Staying true to myself and who I’ve been made to be has been the greatest struggle and also where I have found the greatest victory.

Learning how to do things I’ve never done before when there seems to be no appropriate blueprint or set of instructions. This is a challenge in and of itself. Never knowing if I am doing it right, yet doing it anyway. Which is ultimately why time away in silence to receive perspective and grounding is so important. It’s where you can receive affirmation, correction for the things that need to be adjusted, and hope for the future regardless of where you currently are.

I’ve mismanaged relationships, money, priorities, time and opportunities. These have all come with their own consequences and potential to learn and improve in the future. Ultimately, I had to be willing to make mistakes and take risks.

Loss, and the grief in losing all of these things, come hand in hand with ministry.

When we find ourselves living with discouragement and disappointment, how are we responding? We are going to go through those seasons. That’s inevitable. It really is all about how we respond. Do we let that chip away at our dreams? Or do we allow it to embolden them?

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We, Kallah Culture Ministries, hosts Eden-like environments across the nation for ministry leaders and organizational executives.

In the Nashville area, we host a 48 hour silent retreat and a workshop style, men’s leadership development intensive.

For nearly 5 years now our team has intentionally sought out and selected blissful locations across the country for men and women to get away for 48-72 hours of silence.

The location we chose at Horton Haven Christian Camp is simply delightful!

We are the ONLY faith-based silent retreat ministry that hosts locations across the country. Each place is uniquely and intentionally prepared for you to encounter true peace and rest.

What I want readers to really grasp is the intentionality behind these scenic locations and the amount of attention to detail our team pours into each event. They are all inclusive in every way. We want every person who steps into an experience with Kallah to feel a sense of “Narnia” in everything we do.

Our core values are Honor, Excellence, Servant Leadership, and Collaboration. Everything we do reflects those values and we hope you feel that too!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I love this question. Success to me is peace and fulfillment in my day to day life. Confidence that I am exactly where I am supposed to be, doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing, and unwavering in my belief that there are more great adventures to come.
