Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Gantt
Hi Diamond, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up serving at St. Stephen Baptist Church in Temple Hills, Maryland, where I accepted the call to preach at the age of 15, becoming the youngest minister in the church’s history. I was also the youngest in my ministerial training group. After high school, I attended Hampton University, where I served in campus ministry and eventually became the vice president of the campus ministry. During that time, I began receiving preaching invitations, and by 19, I was licensed to preach. During my last two years at Hampton University, my speaking itinerary expanded significantly. I began receiving more invitations to preach at various churches and events, allowing me to share the Gospel with a broader audience. This period was pivotal in shaping my voice and refining my ability to connect with people from different walks of life, ultimately preparing me for the greater opportunities that followed in ministry.
I graduated from Hampton in 2018 with a degree in Political Science and went on to pursue my Master of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary. While at Princeton, I interned at a church I had never been to before, Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. It was a pivotal experience for me—I initially thought Mt. Zion had just one location, only to discover that they had three at the time.
I did a second year-long internship at Mt. Zion, and following that, Bishop Walker invited me to return and serve as Associate Pastor of Vision Development and Execution. This invitation was significant because I became the first Associate Pastor to be invited to the highest level of leadership within the church.
Through each step, I’ve been deeply committed to preaching the Gospel and serving with passion and purpose.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road hasn’t been smooth, but I don’t believe anyone called to do something great has an easy journey, especially when you’re carving paths that haven’t been walked before. I’ve always known I was equipped for the calling, but there were challenges along the way. Growing up in a single-parent household was my first experience of overcoming obstacles. Another significant challenge was navigating my identity as a young minister in high school, balancing being true to myself while also seeking acceptance. Acceptance has probably been the toughest part of my journey—learning more about who I am without others fully understanding that process. I had to discover my own voice and stand firm in it, even when others, with good intentions, shared opinions or advice that didn’t align with my personal or spiritual growth. It was a journey of learning to trust my own path and purpose, despite external pressures.
Some of the more specific struggles I’ve faced include battling doubt about what God could truly accomplish in my life during different seasons. There were moments when I questioned whether I was really equipped to handle the various roles He had placed before me. Being in academically competitive environments, especially while balancing an increasingly demanding speaking itinerary, presented its own set of challenges. I had to manage the rigorous academic workload at both Hampton University and Princeton Seminary while simultaneously responding to more and more preaching invitations.
I also faced the internal struggle of beating the odds and avoiding the stereotypes often placed on young ministers. There were times when I felt like I was ahead of my time—operating with vision beyond my years—while still remaining relevant and connected to the world today.
One of the biggest tensions for me has been balancing my love for preaching, leadership, and learning in a profession that often encourages a focus on one area. I believe that it’s possible to be effective in all these arenas, but navigating the expectations of others has required a great deal of focus and intentionality.
Additionally, a recurring challenge has been dealing with people’s assumptions. Many feel they know me based on what they see from a distance, without truly understanding the depth of who I am. It’s been an ongoing process of reconciling public perception with my personal reality and staying true to who God has called me to be, regardless of others’ expectations or preconceived notions.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a multifaceted individual—Associate Pastor, Executive Director, business owner, and recording artist—I am passionate about helping others achieve their goals through visionary leadership, strategic planning, and spiritual growth. I wear many hats, including running my Vision Development and Execution Consulting, creating websites, and launching my Contending for the Faith brand, which includes both a prayer album and an apparel line. All of which can be found on my website DiamondJGantt.com.
Through Vision Development and Execution Consulting, I specialize in helping leaders and organizations refine their vision and implement strategic plans to foster sustainable growth. My approach goes beyond simply defining a vision—I work closely with leaders to ensure the successful execution of that vision, empowering them to inspire their teams, lead effectively, and align their culture with their long-term goals. What sets me apart is my ability to guide clients through both the vision-building process and the steps required to see that vision come to life. I’m proud to offer a comprehensive approach that drives measurable success and transforms organizations from the inside out.
In addition to my consulting work, I’m also deeply invested in faith-based initiatives. My Contending for the Faith brand includes a prayer album, Volume 1, which is designed to lead listeners through a journey of reflection, revelation, and spiritual growth. This movement encourages believers to stand firm in their faith, fight spiritual battles through prayer and fasting, and trust God’s purpose in their lives. Alongside the prayer album, I’ve also launched a Contending for the Faith apparel line, allowing individuals to proudly express their commitment to their faith.
Whether it’s through consulting services, faith-based initiatives, or creative projects, my mission is to empower others to thrive, both personally and professionally. Through visionary leadership, strategic planning, and unwavering faith, I believe we can achieve transformational success in every area of life.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I am deeply grateful for the incredible support system that has shaped my journey. First and foremost, my mother deserves immense credit for raising me and instilling in me the values of hard work and determination. She was my first example of strength and perseverance. My grandparents, Gantt and Pressly, also played a critical role in my life. They not only invested in me financially and educationally but, most importantly, they nurtured my spiritual growth. Their unwavering belief in me was a foundation I continue to build on.
My aunt, Dr. Darnita Payden, has been there for me since birth. She has always ensured that I knew I was capable of achieving anything I set my mind to. Her support has been instrumental in my development as a person and as a leader. My siblings continue to be a source of strength and motivation, as I strive to set a positive example for them.
I also have to honor my spiritual parents, Bishop Lanier C. Twyman, Sr. and First Lady Elder Tonya Twyman, who recognized the call of God on my life early on. They didn’t wait for me to be “older” to acknowledge what God was doing in me, and their belief in my potential allowed me to step into my calling with confidence.
Finally, I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III and Dr. Stephaine Walker, who have been incredible mentors and leaders in my life. What many don’t know is that Dr. Stephaine was the first to invite me to speak with her husband about Princeton Seminary at a time when I didn’t even know who Bishop Walker was. That initial conversation changed the trajectory of my life, and I will always be grateful for their continued investment in me.
To these individuals, so many more who are not named, and my many ancestors who have prayed me through, I am forever grateful. Their love, guidance, and belief in me have been vital to my success.
