Check Out Kirsten Levinskas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Levinskas

Hi Kirsten, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve played music all my life. Learned piano at 5 and guitar around 5th grade. Got my first electric guitar at 14 and always played casually, self-taught style. Had a handful of teachers here and there, but never felt consistent until I started writing. I didn’t become a singer/songwriter until I was in my early 20s. After high school I went to a 2 year community college and got my pre-nursing associates degree. I went on to nursing school, but struggled to maintain good grades or find motivation to finish because I knew I wasn’t happy. I finally decided to drop out to pursue music. Whatever that meant. Flash forward to now: I play out at multiple spots in Nashville, constantly meet a ton on awesome people, released my own music (currently about to release my debut EP) and work with a full band. There’s still a lot I hope to accomplish and learn as I grow as an artist.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nursing school. It reinforced my feelings of being out of place, not feeling like I’m doing the right thing, or not feeling in control of my life. I felt like a black sheep in some ways and it was confusing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I sing, play guitar, and write songs. I prefer electric guitar and consider myself a guitar player first, singer second, and songwriter third. This is always how I’ve felt, I don’t seem to have an explanation for it. I’m most proud of the EP that I’m about to release. I co-produced it with Blake Mohler and we’re in the final stages of getting it out. Can’t wait for the world to hear it.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m open to working with as many people as possible. I believe that support it necessary for success and growth as an artist. I also believe you can get more out of working with more people because you can learn from other creatives and use it to benefit your work. Social media and going out to local shows/events is a great way for me and other artists to connect and support each other.
