Hi Nash, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Australian born and Nashville based, a multi- award winning, multi-platinum selling, multi-chart-topping music Producer, Mixer and Manager. My studio work travels through many genres such as Americana, Country, Rock, Pop and Blues.

Much of his work has been alongside his sister and Australian Icon, Kasey Chambers. Our musical journey together includes countless awards, acknowledgements, and adventures over the past 30 years throughout Australia, United States and Europe. In addition to my work with Kasey, my studio credits include Jimmy Barnes, Troy Cassar-Daley, Paul Kelly, Archie Roach, Cold Chisel, Amy Shepard, Bliss n Eso, Steve Prestwich, James Reyne, Ross Wilson, Adam Harvey, Catherine Britt, Grizzlee Train, Daniel Champagne, Jedd Hughes, Hayes Carll, 19Twenty, Carly Burruss, The Waifs, Bill Chambers, Jess Hitchcock, Jamie McDell, Sara Berki, Gimme the Fringe, Ruby Gilbert, Soul Movers, and many others. My production work has received more than 15x ARIA Awards (Aust Grammy Equiv.), 30x CMAA Awards (Aust CMA Equiv.), 2x Americana Music Assoc Nominations, and numerous gold, platinum and multi-platinum achievements. I am also 5x CMAA Producer of the Year, CMAA Engineer of the Year, ARIA Producer of the Year Nominee, Musician, Songwriter, Instructor of Audio Engineering (Dark Horse Inst 2022), and have extensive experience in Live Sound, Event Production and Artist Management.

I was also producer and co-founder of the 2018 & 2019 Australian Americana Music Honours, with Jed Hilly (Americana Music Assoc Nashville) and iconic promoter Michael Chugg. The event held in Melbourne featured such artists as Old Crow Medicine Show, Margo Price, Bernard Fanning, Joshua Hedley, Valerie June, Busby Marou, Diesel, Kasey Chambers, Shane Howard + many more. Since 2017 I have been based out of my East Nashville studio, Troubadour House, surrounded by a collection of modern and vintage gear and numerous instruments.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Relocating permanently from Australia to the US in 2017 with family certainly had its challenges, both exciting and difficult, business and personal. As most would know, the music business is never a smooth road, however I guess the largest struggle for most creatives was the covid pandemic. So much uncertainty, no work, and a complete restructure of the music business model. I feel most of us are still adapting to the new landscape and lack of income streams.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Majority of my work is as a Producer/Mixer and Artist manager, and a substantial amount of this has been with my sister, Kasey Chambers, a well known Australian Artist.

We have made 12 records together and been fortunate enough to tour throughout the world. I guess our collective body of work over the past 30+ years is something I’m quite proud of, however there are loads of other amazing experiences I’ve had throughout my studio journeys.

Its hard to know what sets you apart from others as we all have unique strengths and contributions, however I always focus on the artist’s organic core of who they are. Majority of artists I work with fall into the genres of Americana, Country and Rock, while most are songwriters and musicians also. So it is important to keep the core strength of the artist and song without adding too much production.

What matters most to you? Why?
Family and friends, happiness and good health……..we all need these things, but they’re sometimes hard too find.

Particularly in the music biz, family and friends are often your biggest fans and supporters, your critics and therapists, the people you can trust and rely on throughout life’s journey.

Good mental and physical health is so important, yet often gets less prioritized for all the fun things that get in our way. The music industry has an unimpressive past record on these things, however it is great to see to the acceptance and exposure in recent years with numerous outlets for anyone struggling or needing help.

Me time, to clock out and focus elsewhere. Woodworking has become my hobby, an activity where I can be creative without any pressure, also a few days in a cabin near the water will do wonders for the soul.
