Conversations with Kayla Gardner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Gardner

Hi Kayla, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Tennessee, moved to Louisiana, then to Texas where I went to High School and once I graduated I started acting in my spare time for commercials and film. Then I moved to Florida for 8 years to perform at Walt Disney World as Ariel, Cinderella, and Merida. I graduated college right as Covid hit and everything shut down. I did what everyone else did and started posting on TikTok. That’s what started my love of content creating. Once I turned 28 I was looking for a change and found myself moving to Tennessee. So October 2023 I said goodbye to Disney and moved to Nashville where I worked at Viralish as a content director until there was a merger and my job role had changed several times. That’s when I realized that everything I was doing for this company, I could be doing for myself. So I branched out and now I’m learning so much as an independent content creator.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Covid hitting and losing my job at Disney for a year was definitely not something that I saw coming, as did any of us. It could have been so much worse than just losing my job, so I’m grateful that’s all that happened. Especially considering I was hired back just a year later. During that time, I was nannying, dog walking, working in Amazon warehouses, content creating etc. Any odd jobs I could find, I was doing to stay afloat.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently am in the marketing/UGC/E-commerce/Influencer space. I’ve working with brands / social media management companies specializing in scaling & converting watchers into consumers through edu-tainment & viral concepts. It’s definitely different than what I thought I would be doing but I’m just taking each day at a time. I’m proud of myself for never giving up no matter what has been thrown at me. I try to make entertaining content that inspires emotion, that’s the goal!

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
That you have to be ready for anything honestly. You can’t just sit around waiting for opportunities to come your way, you have to get out there and hustle to make ends meet. To not take a single day for granted because you never know when it could be your last and take the steps to prioritize your health and the safety of others.
