Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Gish
Hi Lauren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My career path has been more of a dynamic journey than a straightforward climb. I began in the beauty industry, working in various roles from education to distribution, collaborating with salons and schools. When I moved to Nashville 11 years ago with my husband and a five-month-old baby, I found myself at a crossroads, unsure of where my next steps would take me.
While working part-time in beauty, I was searching for something more, and in 2013, I transitioned to the role of General Manager for a PR and Digital Marketing firm in the music industry, working with top 40 Country and Pop artists. Although this was an incredible opportunity, I quickly realized it wasn’t the career path I envisioned long-term. When I was offered a COO position, I declined, knowing there was someone out there who would truly thrive in that role, and I returned to the beauty industry. In 2016, I partnered in a salon, consulting for beauty, health, and wellness businesses across Nashville and NYC.
After facing personal and health challenges during and after the pandemic, I decided it was time for a change. I sold my salon in the fall of 2023, allowing me time to rest, reflect, and reconnect. During this period, I realized how much I thrive on connecting people with the resources and relationships they need. At the same time, my passion for real estate started to grow. I’ve always loved watching Nashville evolve, especially in neighborhoods like 12 South, Germantown, and Wedgewood Houston, and how these changes have positively impacted my friends’ and clients’ businesses. I now see a beautiful connection between real estate and the entrepreneurial spirit of this city, which has inspired my next chapter.
My own journey with real estate allowed me to become an entrepreneur, a homeowner, a landlord, own and manage a short-term rental, and change my family’s life. I love helping others discover what real estate can do for them too—especially entrepreneurs and those relocating from a major city, as I did.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Time has definitely been one of my biggest challenges. Since 2020, I think many people can relate to the feeling that time has been moving at a different speed. For me, it was a combination of the pandemic’s aftermath, undergoing a hysterectomy and other procedures for endometriosis, and balancing life as a mom of two.
As someone who thrives on being social, a connector, and a high performer, it was hard to learn how to slow down and really care for myself. I had to shift from constantly being in the know and pushing beyond my limits to embracing a more routine-based life, rather than reacting to everything around me. While it’s been incredibly challenging, this shift has also been one of the most rewarding adjustments I’ve made.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Real estate doesn’t feel like work to me—it feels like I’m truly doing what I was meant to do. I’m connecting people with the places they’re meant to be, whether it’s finding a neighborhood that feels like home or securing a property that increases their net worth and supports their family’s future.
So many people don’t realize what’s possible for them in real estate. There are a variety of loan products that can empower them to invest in ways they hadn’t imagined. My favorite part of the job is serving as a guide, especially for those relocating to or within Nashville, and helping entrepreneurs maximize their potential. Whether it’s finding their perfect home or diversifying their assets, I’m passionate about showing them how real estate can help them grow and succeed.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising? Stand-up comedy is my absolute favorite thing to watch! Growing up in Chicago, I always felt connected to the comedy scene because so many of my favorite movies, shows, and comedians came from people who walked the same streets I did.
While I do love music, I’ll pick a stand-up comedy show over a concert any day! There’s just something about the energy and connection that happens through laughter that resonates with me.
