Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Weaver
Hi Chris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in Grafton, West Virginia; music has always been in my blood. My dad was a musician, so I was surrounded by the sounds of Stax, Motown, and classic rock. But things really kicked into gear when I moved to Nashville in my early twenties. It wasn’t just about being in Music City; it was about getting out there, grinding in the honky-tonks, and connecting with other musicians who shared the same drive.
That’s when the Chris Weaver Band came together. We didn’t limit ourselves to one sound—we blended southern rock, country, and a little soul to create something different. Along the way, I had the opportunity to work and perform in Brazil, a game-changer for me both musically and personally. Collaborating with artists like Fernando and Sorocaba and experiencing a new musical culture was huge. It opened up a world of inspiration and made me realize how powerful music can be when it crosses borders.
It’s been a wild ride, but I’ve always focused on staying true to the stories I want to tell through my music. Whether playing small venues or larger shows, it’s all about connecting with the audience and ensuring they feel something real.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but that’s part of the journey in the music business. One of the biggest challenges was just getting started in Nashville. Moving here in my twenties, I knew it would be challenging, but nothing really prepares you for the grind. Playing night after night, sometimes in empty rooms, just trying to get your name out there, takes a toll. But it also makes you appreciate the moments when things do start to click.
There’s also the business side of music, which can be a struggle in itself. Navigating contracts, finding the right management, and balancing creative freedom with making something that resonates commercially can be challenging to juggle.
Then there’s Brazil. Working there wasn’t so much about sticking to my sound as embracing a new musical culture. It pushed me out of my comfort zone. Instead of focusing on what I was used to, I had to open up and let those influences in. The collaboration with Brazilian artists brought its own set of challenges, but it also led to some of the most rewarding moments in my career.”
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a musician, songwriter, and performer passionate about blending southern rock, soul, and country to create a sound rooted in my experiences. My music is all about telling stories and forging an emotional connection with the audience, whether it’s through heartfelt ballads or high-energy performances. What sets me apart is the energy and authenticity I bring to every show, ensuring that each performance feels unique and resonates with the crowd.
Beyond my personal music, I’ve built a successful career in the private and corporate event space. Running a cover band has allowed me to develop a separate arm of my business, which has grown into not just performing but also booking and helping develop other artists. It’s been incredibly rewarding to support others in growing their careers while keeping the music scene alive and vibrant.
I’m incredibly proud of my journey with the band, from playing local Nashville venues to building a dedicated fan base across various regions. We’re known for our live performances and work hard to make each one an authentic experience where the connection with the audience is at the core.
Our approach to music is what truly sets us apart. We’re not afraid to blend genres or explore new sounds, but we always stay true to the heart of the story we’re telling. For us, it’s not just about the music; it’s about making sure people leave with something memorable that sticks with them long after the show ends.
What’s next?
I’m really excited about the release of Softer Side. The idea for the track came about pretty naturally when Eric Gunderson from Love and Theft and I were listening to some Brazilian Sertanejo music. We stumbled upon a song we liked the feel of, which sparked the idea of creating our own version, putting our spin on it, and shaping it into something that felt true to our style.
What I love about Softer Side is that it’s a fun, feel-good song. It’s not overcomplicated—it’s just about taking a sound we enjoyed, making it our own, and putting out a track that feels solid. After playing it live a few times, we knew we had something, so we took it into the studio and just ran with it.
In terms of future plans, I’m most excited about my work with the international board for the CMA’s (Country Music Association). We’re focusing on expanding country music and Nashville’s influence into Brazil. That’s a huge opportunity to bridge cultural gaps and bring more of Nashville’s sound and spirit into international markets. This initiative has the potential to open up a lot of doors for both American and Brazilian artists.
I’m always focused on creating new original material while collaborating with artists across different genres to keep the music dynamic and fresh. On the business side, I’m passionate about building a space for musicians that offers both studio and rehearsal space and support in booking, management, and development. I want to grow my private and corporate event business beyond my performances, incorporating other acts. It’s all about expanding the foundation I’ve built creatively and professionally. There’s a lot of exciting stuff on the horizon, and I can’t wait to see where the next steps lead.
