Hi Kevin and Amalia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We are Kevin and Amalia Logan, the founders of North Star Nature Suites. In 2023, we followed our North Star and took a leap of faith, leaving behind successful careers we’d poured decades into building. Kevin as a Sr. Vice President of Operations for a large publicly traded company and Amalia as a world class Interior Designer.

We had a vision and the passion to work together and marry our strengths and expertise to build something truly special.

Nestled on 55 acres of breathtaking Tennessee mountainside property, our dream was to create a sanctuarywhere nature and luxury meet – a place for you to disconnect from you busy, hectic life, reconnect with one another and find your own North Star, together.

Every detail of this escape reflects our passion for creating experiences that bring couples closer together. From the luxurious design of each suite to the peaceful, private setting, this has been a true labor of love, and we can’t wait to share it with our guests very soon!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is ever a smooth road but we are glass half full people and we always find a way to get through the challenges.

We started looking for property in April 2023 and looked both online and in person at over 75 properties. We would do day trips or two day trips and look at 5+ properties until we found the absolute right property for this project that met all of our criteria. After about 100 days we found that property in Sparta, TN.

The financing process took about 6 months longer than we anticipated and we were required to provide things like a Geotechnical study of our property, a detailed feasibility study for the financial institution we were working with that took extra time.

Other than that, we have been moving pretty quickly and knock on wood without other struggles.

North Star Nature Suites™ is officially under development with eight (8) amazing Nature Suites that will open in Fall of 2024.

North Star Nature Suites™ is located in the perfect setting and you will see why when you visit. The scenic drive in to the property continually gets better the further you get off state highway 111 and then there is the exclamation point of pulling into the North Star Nature Suites™property. With 55 acres of property to explore in White County, TN the property is in the most beautiful part of White County, called Big Bottom due to the proximity in the Caney Fork River Bottoms. The property features a beautiful fenced meadow area with the rest of the property perched on a mountainside that offers beautiful views in every direction. Besides the breathtaking views, the silence and solitude will help you relax, refresh, recharge and unwind from the stresses of day to day life. While the North Star Nature Suites™ property is located close to state parks, waterfalls, hiking, boating and many activities off property, there is plenty to explore on property. With over 2 miles of trails hiking the property will bring you through a beautiful forest and through some giant rock formations. There is a 100 foot limestone cliff that you will be under that at night is beautifully lit up. There are two ponds on property, the meadow pond and the bullfrog pond. A walk down to the beautiful meadow area will bring you by an old barn and the Lodge. A walk up the mountain trail will bring you to the top of our property called the knob. Several of these features are set up with a pair of chairs and a table to sit, relax and enjoy a glass of wine or have a picnic.

Your private 5-star Suite immersed in nature. Our vision for North Star Nature Suites™ is inspired by the essence of the outdoors to reinforce a sense of escapism with a greater connection and emphasis to the natural landscape. Our 500 square foot Nature Suites™ are “Swiss army knives” combining everything you need and nothing that you don’t. With the interiors finished in organic and textural materials that engage the senses, designer furnishings and five-star linens, the overall feeling is soft, welcoming and embracing. The suites have been thoughtfully designed to accommodate a king bed for ultimate comfort while star gazing or enjoying the expansive mountain views through the many large windows. The main living area has a cozy linear fireplace for lounging and a seating area for romantic dinners. This is further complimented by a full kitchen with custom cabinetry and zonal lighting throughout to create the ultimate environment for being close to nature while in perfect comfort. A spa like bathroom with Italian porcelain tile, heated floors, rain shower, fluffy towels, cotton robes and luxury soaps round-off the interior spaces by providing a sanctuary that would not be out of place in the finest boutique hotel.

We love each other and besides being husband and wife we are best friends. We are passionate about North Star Nature Suites and making it amazing for our guests. We know how difficult it is to raise a family and be engaged in a career and everything else that a busy life throws at you. We’ve been there! We want to help people like us take a time out from that hectic, all consuming life and relax, unwind, reconnect and reset together in the peaceful serenity of nature. The quiet luxury of our Nature Suites and the quiet peacefulness of nature is an amazing combination to help the stress melt away.
