Meet Lynzee Johnson of Back Porch Sippin’

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynzee Johnson

Hi lynzee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up around the radio business and eventually found my way in it hosting radio shows in Missouri, Michigan, and Tennessee. My passion for music and the artists that create it lead to the creation of Back Porch Sippin’. There’s nothing like chilling on a back porch, sippin’ on something great, discovering and listening to the best in new artists and music. My passion for helping new, up and coming artists is the main reason behind the launch of the Back Porch Sippin’ Podcast allowing me to bring all of my favorite things together in one place.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it hasn’t been a smooth road but I am very thankful for that. When I think of struggles early on in my career, it comes in the form of losing probably one of my biggest mentors. While working in radio, I was only a few years in when I had the opportunity to work for and learn from Mark Grantin. Mark was more than a program director to me. He believed in all my crazy ideas, always pushed me to do better on and off air, and gave me so many opportunities. Losing someone like that early on in my career has come with a lot of challenges. I have a crazy journey so far and some days it feels like its challenge after challenge and other times, its filled with a bunch of “pinch me” moments. I’m really grateful for the lessons I’ve learned so far and the challenges that make me stronger and wiser along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I host the Back Porch Sippin’ Podcast where we interview new and upcoming artists and songwriters. Our podcast is all about connecting listeners to new music, sharing the stories and importance behind songs and ones career, and of course getting you hooked on someone new so you can follow along with their journey in the music world!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Haha, oh goodness! I’d say a lot of my interests were the same then as they are now. I really enjoyed concerts, hunting, and fishing. A tomboy if you will. What always catches folks by surprise is…I was actually extremely shy! I know, crazy, right? I am so outgoing now but believe me, if you ever heard my first “break” on air, you wouldn’t ever think it was me! It was after about a month into my first radio gig, that I figured out I love talking and cuttin’ up with anyone and everyone.
