Today we’d like to introduce you to Jensen Lang
Hi Jensen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a young age, I dreamt of owning a home, and at 24, I was able to make that vision a reality. The goal was always clear: find a place that could be more than just a home—a place that could become a welcoming rental space, a source of inspiration and connection. The day I walked into what is now my home, I felt an instant gut feeling, that it was the one. It surprised my realtor, given the state of the house; it was undeniably a fixer-upper. But to me, the home had so much character and I saw the potential, and the attached apartment was a hidden gem waiting to be transformed into my dream rental space.
Renovating that space was no project—it needed the most attention and care. I’m so grateful for my parents, who are both incredibly skilled and handy. They flew up from Florida every month for the first six months to help me bring this dream to life, turning hard work and late nights into precious memories.
Today, that little apartment has become The Nashville Cottage, a photoshoot rental space that embodies the charm of an English countryside cottage, and one day a Nashville staycation. It sits on an acre lot, right across from the Cumberland River, surrounded by views that make every day feel special.
Now, I’m proud to share this space with others, offering a slice of inspiration to everyone who steps through the door.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Renovating an older home comes with its fair share of challenges, and mine was no exception. Built in 1955 by the original owner’s family, it was rich with history but had seen little change over the years. When I first stumbled across the property, I knew it needed significant work, but I was ready to take on that challenge. What I didn’t fully anticipate were the countless obstacles that would pop up along the way—from unexpected plumbing issues to foundation repairs and everything in between.
These setbacks tested my patience and pushed my limits. Renovating an old home is never straightforward, but with each hurdle, I learned to adapt and problem-solve. There were days when progress felt impossible, and the to-do list seemed never-ending. But the support from my parents, who were there month after month, reminded me that I wasn’t alone in this journey.
Despite all the challenges, it was worth every struggle. This journey transformed more than just the house—it transformed me. It taught me not only patience but I learned so much when it comes to construction. Today, when I look at my home and The Nashville Cottage, I see the beauty of hard work and the joy of making a space that tells a story.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
From a young age, I have always been extremely creative and entrepreneurial. Interior design and fashion have always been at the fore front, in high school I thought I would pursue interior design but last minute changed my mind and went to school for fashion. At 14, I launched a jewelry business called ‘Miss Jensen’s Boutique,’ which gave me my first taste of running a successful venture. During my senior year of college, when COVID hit, I started an online clothing store called ‘Jensen Elizabeth.’ That experience taught me so much about running a business and adapting to new challenges.
After moving to Nashville, I worked at a large local clothing store to learn the ins and outs of retail. This led me to a role in social media, and now I’m a full-time social media manager. Renovating my home recently brought back my love for interior design, and I hope to build a career in that direction one day. Each part of my journey—from running businesses to social media—has been about combining creativity with hands-on experience, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that growth comes from being adaptable and willing to face the unexpected. Whether it was starting businesses, stepping into new roles, or tackling home renovations, each challenge pushed me to learn and adjust. Passion has always been at the heart of everything I do, driving me forward even when the path is unpredictable. Staying committed to that vision, no matter the obstacles, is what makes the journey worthwhile.
