Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Staples
Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a singer/songwriter/recording artist who has been traveling around the world sharing my stories and my songs since I was 13 years old. In the earliest days of my music journey I was given the opportunity to share the stage with a variety of CCM artists across the USA at music festivals, conferences, military bases, universities, schools, homeless shelters, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, as well at the Parachute Music Festival in Auckland, New Zealand. But my work over the past thirteen years has been a bit more obscure as I have primarily focused on touring and sharing my songs across the United Kingdom and Europe, hoping to provide a cup of cold water to those who are weary in their faith journey. In 2022 I thought perhaps my touring days were over. But God had other plans. I have released three more records in just two years. Instead of the end of a journey it feels like the beginning of something new.
My latest record, ReFormation was produced by Grammy Award winner, Mitch Dane and features some of the finest musicians in the Nashville area. I am so thrilled to be able to share these songs that are so close to my heart.
I believe music has the power to break through the walls we often place between ourselves, our neighbors, and even our Creator. Music has been a conduit of connection for me since I began writing. I hope those who listen to this record (and past records) will be drawn into that connection, as well.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The hardest part of being an independent artist is the work taking place behind the scenes. Logistics like managing tours, booking musicians, making travel arrangements, planning out song and record releases are extremely time consuming and often take us away from our primary calling/vocation—which is to create. We do not have a team of people planning every detail of our tours, making connections for us, or ensuring our music is promoted in ways that secure its success. We are our own record label—we do it all. It can be lonely, discouraging, isolating, and frankly, exhausting.
Some artist friends and I joke we are the only ones in any industry that literally pay to do our work instead of being paid for our work.
But while being an artist is not exactly a steady career choice, it is a worthy vocation. Where would we be without music?
What are your plans for the future?
2025 ReFormation Tour across the UK and even a bit across the United States again.
