Today we’d like to introduce you to Aurora Tennant

Hi Aurora, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My father and grandfather have always taken pictures of our family and our everyday lives. I think this is where my love for photography originated. I can remember my first digital camera, a hand-me-down from my parents after they bought smartphones. I went around taking pictures of everything. Photography was only a hobby for me until recently. Over the last few years, I have worked to hone my skills and grow my business to reach a wider audience. In the beginning, I struggled with feelings of inadequacy. I felt like I wasn’t good enough to launch a business yet. Since then, I have realized that anything you do in life takes work; it takes practice. Jumping head first into launching my business was the best thing I could have done and I am so thankful for the people who encouraged me then and continue to cheer me on.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Photography comes naturally to me. I can see the angles and I know what makes a good picture, but I think this skill set was to my deficit in the beginning. I thought my photos would automatically be incredible since I had the skill. I neglected to acknowledge the years of experience and experimentation many of the best photographers have under their belt. My arrogance led to much of my work being mediocre. Once I realized I needed to devote time to practice my craft, I continued to grow. Now, I look forward to learning new techniques and experimenting. Even if my photos don’t turn out how I want every time, I know I’m one step closer to becoming the photographer I want to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love working with couples. Whether that means engagements, anniversary shoots, weddings, pregnancy announcements, etc. I always have a blast capturing a couple’s unique vibe and love for each other.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
To anyone thinking about starting their own business. I get it, the fear of failure is real, but the sting of failure is nothing compared to the years of regret that will haunt you if you never try. Because I took that leap I get to meet and work with lovely people all over Tennessee.
