Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Moga
Hi Alexandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Queens, NY, in the diaspora community of fellow Romanians. My parents tried to get us out of the city into nature as much as possible, gardening on our lot upstate and spending summers in the Catskills and back in Romania in the mountains. From a young age, I’ve been motivated by movement, curiosity of the unknown, adventures into new experiences, and uncovering hidden mysteries — craving some kind of cosmic truth and energy. As a kid, my aunt introduced me to Kundalini yoga meditations and I think that, along with playing sports and writing poetry, was how I intuitively managed a lot of big emotions and big upheavals that frequently happened around me. I think this physical and metaphysical boundary-stretching is what inspires me to make seemingly bold choices at pivotal moments in life, like applying for a HS magnet program in Culinary Arts, studying Art History abroad at university in Paris, and moving to Nashville after 12 years in Brooklyn. For a few years after college, I bounced around jobs in mortgage banking, touring with a band, supporting real estate lawyers, doing sales at a start-up, running my own Airbnbs, and finally, working full-time as a yoga teacher. Yoga was always this thread that kept me centered and connected to my body and sharing it kept my own studies going, helped me find my voice in the world. When I moved to Nashville in 2020, it was to follow this longing to root down closer to the land, and to develop my love of writing and song in like-hearted community, to continue this adventure of exploring the unknown. And while teaching yoga continued online, in local studios and on retreats, a few influential relationships and happenings inspired me to direct my love of real estate and the journey of ‘finding home’ to serve others. As the daughter of an architect, I was influenced by family road trips we’d take up and down the East Coast where my dad would often wind down residential streets commenting on the various architectural features and styles of the homes. Now, when I ride around with clients, that familiar eye comes back. I can’t help but smile at the full-circle nature of it all and how the puzzle pieces of life come together in unexpected and perfect ways.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think one of my struggles is using my voice to really tell my story and truth, and to advocate for my skillset and expertise. I’m happy just siting back and letting things come to me, but there’s also this knowing that big growth lies on the other side of being more proactive, acting on ideas with structure and consistency. I am very much my own biggest obstacle! I feel very useful, fulfilled, and motivated listening to and supporting others, so it’s not always easy to overcome this inner fear and resistance to share and show myself. I think I’m at a point where I can see how when I ignore or even feed my weaknesses for too long, life delivers a challenge to shake me up and push me out of my comfort zone. Studying Hinduism all these years, along with wisdom from Taoism, Kabbalah, and Christian mysticism has given me so much faith that these so-called challenges are actually massive gifts to activate my personal growth, keep me in touch with source, and, ultimately, make room for more love, compassion, and connection.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve called myself an energetic organizer and I think that really sums it up neatly. Creating and maintaining beauty and energetic order in the subtle and gross realms is at the heart of my offerings, be it as a realtor, a writer, or a yoga teacher. I like to have many irons in the fire and use both sides of my brain, as it were. Working with numbers, spreadsheets, and specific, time-bound, process-based goals and projects comes easily to me and helps me stay organized working with Real Estate clients. I also love using these proclivities towards fun community-building events and happenings, like back yard shows, international travels and retreats. When I teach yoga and breath work there’s a linear structure to the sessions, but I also get to drop into a state of ‘channeling’ where I co-cultivate an energetic vortex sourced in the wisdom of the teachings I’ve taken in, what I intuitively feel is needed, and what my heart and that more poetic side of me wishes to express. Sustaining harmony and openness of spirit is very much the leading motivation behind my personal relations, supporting clients, and sharing that feeling of ‘truth at home’ I’ve cultivated within myself.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’ve been told I’m a very fun traveling companion and that is one of the biggest compliments to me. We’re all together on this wild journey through life and I try to see the mundane and the magical as equally potent, with the potential for discovery, gratitude and joy to be experienced in both the little practical moments of daily life, and the big leaps into the unknown we all take from time to time.
