Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Murphy
Hi Sara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started out in my singing and dancing to any music I could find at the age of 3. I started out with country music, one of my favorites being Shania Twain’s Party for Two. Then on I sang whenever and whatever I could from musical theater to old westerns. Music is what drove me, and still does today. I grew up in a very musical family, so being around it my whole life really helped move along my love for it. When I go to high school I knew music is what I needed to do no matter what aspect I did it in. From being in the praise band to musical practice after school I was always on the go musically. Then I moved to Nashville and my love for the art grew more everyday!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been as bumpy as one would expect for an independent artist. It’s hard to get people to notice you whether you have the talent for it or not. Once I lost my grandfather, who was one of my greatest inspirations, I knew that I had to make him proud. Through the losses that don’t make life any easier and the constant rejections, you just have to push past it to see your passion for your art and why you do it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a country folk singer songwriter and I love it so much. I am very proud of all the music I write because I want it all to be able to help someone feel heard. I know that music is my therapy and I want to be that for someone. If my music helps even one person feel seen and helps distract them from a hard day then I’ve done my job. I feel my musical theater voice and background sets me apart from others. You don’t see a lot of us in the country folk industry who love a good belt now and then!
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Any way they would like! I love cowriting and I also love doing things like this! I love interviews, going in podcasts, and more! To support me really it’s all about listening to the music I release and giving me feedback! I love hearing input and what people think!!!
