Today we’d like to introduce you to JoeAngel Sanchez
Hi JoeAngel , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Living the life I am living today in Nashville is truly a dream come true. I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, and from a young age, I knew what my “dreams” were and was going to take every step I needed to get there. As a child, I would play with toy cars, including tour buses and trucks, pretending I was on the road, traveling the world. Everything I did felt like a step toward that dream—connecting my love for music, live performances, and a deep passion for people. The natural path for me seemed clear.
I grew up attending live events with my youth group, and every time I saw the stage, the lights, and the energy, it sparked something inside me. I remember hearing a speaker mention, “The people putting on this event are just out of high school and college, and they’re your age.” That moment was a turning point. I did my research and applied for an internship with the team behind those events. It was through that internship that I met incredible artists I had admired for years. These relationships eventually led to my name being passed along to an entertainment group in Nashville. They flew me in for an interview, and I was hired on the spot. Just two weeks later, I was packing up and moving to a new city.
I threw myself into my work, soaking up every lesson and embracing each moment. Nearly a year later, I found myself being forced to do it on my own and figure it out. It was a hard moment I didn’t realize would be a pivotal step.
As I stepped into the world of music management, I was determined to do things differently. I didn’t just want to manage artists—I wanted to understand every facet of the industry. Before fully embracing the role of manager, I took the time to work in various areas of the business: as a merch manager, promoter rep, creative, and in production. This hands-on experience allowed me to build a comprehensive understanding of the business, so when I did step into management, I knew exactly what to expect. That journey has given me the clarity to make better decisions today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been easy, but honestly, if it had been, where’s the fun in that? Haha. I truly believe that the challenges, setbacks, and hardships are what shape you and help you grow. They’ve played a huge role in making me who I am today. Moving to Nashville was a big leap, and the job offer I received was the catalyst for that move—it felt like a major step forward. But after being let go unexpectedly, just a short time after arriving, I found myself feeling lost for a while. I was new to town and did not have the relationships that I do now. I faced a lot of rejection, with doors slamming in my face, and struggled to figure out what my next move would be. There were moments when I had no money, and I was pleading with my landlord to hold off on cashing rent checks. $1 menus at fast food restaurants were my best friend. During all of this, I was also grieving the loss of both my parents, just two years apart, while dealing with the complex family issues that came with their passing. It was a tough chapter, but those experiences have only made me stronger.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I was once told, “JoeAngel, you’re the quiet architect behind a lot of dreamers.” And I think that description captures my heart and who I strive to be perfectly. I’m an artist and tour manager, as well as a co-founder of a conference. I wear many hats, and each role ties back to one core mission: helping people and projects achieve their goals and dreams. My work spans everything from helping clients strategize for the big picture to managing the small, daily tasks that move them forward. This could involve marketing, budgeting, contracts, tour planning, branding, or networking on their behalf.
As a tour manager, I handle coordinating and advancing with venues and promoters, managing travel logistics, and overseeing the creative aspects of the show. As a conference co-founder, I help lead our team, shape our programming, maintain relationships with key speakers and artists, and oversee our worship band. In all these roles, I’d say my strength lies in helping people, projects, and visions move from point A to point B.
One of my proudest moments recently was helping one of my artists finish her latest record. She was convinced the project was dead in the water, but together, we were able to push through and get it across the finish line. Seeing it come together and finally releasing it was incredibly rewarding for both of us.
The one thing that truly sets me apart in what I do is JESUS and THE PEOPLE. To me, both come before the project. In everything I do, I pray for guidance and seek direction on how to lead my artists, teams, and projects. My focus is always on connecting with the person first, rather than rushing to the next task. While others may prioritize the project or the bottom line, I’ve always believed that putting the person first is what truly matters. When you focus on the heart, everything else tends to fall into place.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
The one thing that brings me true happiness is my relationship with the Lord. Everything else in my life flows from that foundation. When I reflect on my journey, I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without my faith. As I write this, I can’t help but smile, because I see His faithfulness in every step I’ve taken and in everything I’ve experienced.
