Exploring Life & Business with Fay Fisk of Eden Holistic Hair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fay Fisk

Hi Fay, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started doing my hair in 4th grade and having a passion for the health of one’s hair kinda stemmed from that early responsibility. So needless to say, I was trusted with other people’s hair are as well at a very early age in life. I’d like to believe I was always destined to be a business owner of some sort but it took some time for me to get back to what I was destined to do. I first attended college at Middle Tennessee State University. I completed that journey in 2017 and shortly after become a 5th grade ELA teacher. After the pandemic struck, I decided it was time to take a leap of faith and transition into a new career. Into something that truly fulfilled me and something that did not feel like work. I then attended the Institute of Beauty located in Memphis, TN where I was able to complete courses to obtain my natural hair license. I am now a licensed Natural Hair Stylist servicing clients from all areas of Middle Tennessee. The most common question I get is how did I do it and my advice is always,

1. Show up.
2. Be on time
3. Be consistent

You may not be the best but doing those three things as well as carrying yourself in a professional manner will top any skill set that one may acquire. I find that people value those characteristics the most. To end, I truly believe that in life we will eventually find our way, just stay the course and never ever give up.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building clientele was the hardest. We moved to Nashville in 2021. I came with no job and no childcare. So needless to say it was tough.

While I was building clientele, I would work flexible jobs. Jobs that would allow me to bring my baby along like Amazon flex, Instacart, while also servicing clients at night.

We’ve been impressed with Eden Holistic Hair , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Natural Hair, Protective Styling, as well as Growth & Length Retention. I take pride in creating hair care plans and maintaining healthy hair routines to allow my clients hair to reach its greatest potential.

I think what sets me apart is that I’m a woman of my word. If I say it, I’m going to do it. And if I fail, then I own what I did wrong. I don’t make excuses.

What makes you happy?
Taking care of myself. I think that’s the highest form is self love. I work out. I eat well. And I love comedy.
