Today we’d like to introduce you to Diyoza
Diyoza, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well first, I will like to Thank NashvilleVoyager Magazine for reaching out and helping the community here in Nashville to let their stories be heard.
Hello, I’m Diyoza. A photographer – Music Artist Born in El Salvador, Raised in Mexico, shaped by my teenage years in Florida and adulthood in Tennessee. My diverse upbringing ignited a creative spark within me for wanting to learn more about different Cultures, Beliefs, Arts, and learning more from others.
My love for photography & music began at an early age. Thanks to My mother’s love for capturing life moments through photography & singing to us almost every day. Planted a seed that would blossom into a lifelong passion.
Growing up I was fascinated by music, all types of genres, Particularly Banda, Mariachi, Rancheras, bachata & Reggaeton.
My love for photography also started growing more with time and finding ways to get creative with my own “photoshoots” at home haha.
Before photography, I explored different jobs. From Sales to manual labor and anything in between that I could find to make a living. I didn’t take anything too serious until I was hired at 19 by a photographer named Angel and his wife Nayely. who I consider my mentors through my photography journey. Thanks to them, I know what I know now and was able to open other doors through my photography business here in Tennessee. So big shout out to Angel and thought Ms.Nayely is not here with us anymore. I know she would be proud to see how far I have come. Thank you both!
After a while, Nashville became my home town. I Started growing as a person, as a business owner and as an artist. Where I connected with remarkable individuals and discovered myself more as a musician, and a creative individual behind the camera. Now I’m working on a new project called “My Cultura Music” for all those artists who are looking to work with more creatives from Nashville and bring the Cultures together while we learn from each other.
Today I stand at the intersection of photography and music, driven by passion for creative expression through my lense and the freedom of expression through my music.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The ride hasn’t been smooth. but I wouldn’t change a thing. Many doors were shut, but God had bigger rooms for me to walk in and he opened those doors where he knew I was supposed to be at. So I trusted the guidance, the process and the vision. But I knew that in order to succeed I had to fail, And seek discomfort to get out of my comfort zone. And so I did.
No excuses, just persistence. Regardless of pace, I kept moving forward, driven to become the best version of myself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the moment, I’m focus on growing more as an music artist. while i also work doing what i love. Photography/Videography and networking with other creatives like me.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Yes, when I started my journey trying to find myself and what motivates me. I stumbled upon a video on youtube called “The Secret” and also “On Purpose” by Jay Shetty. Those two sources help me expand my mind in levels that I never thought I needed. and started applying it into my life.
