Exploring Life & Business with Vanessa Hampton of B2 Wellness Suites, BodyWell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Hampton

Hi Vanessa , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Until I was 35, I worked in the corporate world, struggling with being overweight, deeply insecure, and married to an alcoholic. I had no understanding of passion or true happiness. At my lowest point, I made the decision to take control of my eating habits. I didn’t get everything right at first, but the one thing I did right was start making choices for myself. I began going to the gym, discovering newfound determination and strength within myself. Over time, this gave me the courage to leave a toxic relationship.

As I continued focusing on my health, I lost a significant amount of weight and realized I could help others who were facing similar challenges. I obtained my personal training certification and started training clients before and after my office job. At first, I never intended to pursue personal training full time, but the gratification I felt was so fulfilling that I realized the corporate world wasn’t where I belonged.

I left my office job, sacrificing a good salary to follow my newfound passion. I worked part-time at a physical therapy clinic for a year while building my personal training business, eventually leaving the clinic as my client load grew. As my business expanded, I had to hire another trainer to help, as I couldn’t bear turning away clients. Over time, my team grew, and my belief in holistic health led me to pursue a massage therapy license, which I earned five years ago while going to night school. I expanded my team to include massage therapists as well.

In 2024, I opened B2 Wellness Suites, a community of small business wellness professionals, continuing my mission to help others. Looking back, it was through the most difficult time of my life that I found my true purpose.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always challenges in becoming successful. Struggles always include balancing the passion to help others and the income to support yourself. In the same way, building a team requires an additional commitment to making sure they are getting what they need so that they can continue working with you. I always struggle with work/like balance and that looks different at different points in the journey. (I think that is true for all entrepreneurial spirited people).

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am involved in various areas of Fitness and Wellness. My primary business is BodyWell, which offers Fitness, Wellness, and Massage services. At BodyWell, we have a dedicated team of fitness professionals and massage therapists with locations in Brentwood and Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. We cater to diverse communities by offering a wide range of fitness and wellness services. Additionally, I collaborate with Magic Fit, a company that delivers fitness and wellness programs to Conference & Convention attendees as well as Corporate groups.

My latest venture is B2 Wellness Suites, located in Brentwood, Tennessee. B2 is a unique space that fosters a community for small business wellness professionals. I provide office space for wellness businesses and offer day rental meeting and classroom spaces. All our amenities are designed with wellness in mind. B2 is not just office space, but a community where we host tenant socials, promotional events, and networking opportunities. It’s also beneficial to clients and patients, as they can access a variety of trusted wellness professionals all in one location.

The B2 location in Brentwood is just the first of many, and as I continue to grow, I am learning as I go. My goal is to meet the needs of wellness professionals and support their mission while expanding to additional locations.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I have fond memories of being close to my younger brother. He was my best friend when we were young and we were even roommates in early adulthood. Now, he is one of my favorite people.
