Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Sanders
Hi Sarah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was younger, I would tag along to my mom’s hair appointments. I was inspired by the stylists making other women feel beautiful by styling their hair. I loved watching the creativity of the industry and connecting with amazing people. I started assisting at a salon when I was 15 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I grew up. I graduated high school and immediately enrolled in beauty school. I worked behind the chair for 4 years in Pittsburgh and got involved mainly with bridal, coloring & cutting.
In 2023, God called me to move to Nashville, Tennessee. As a hairstylist, starting your career over is not easy. It was a difficult decision to move 9 hours away from everything you know, but I knew God had a plan for me. I sadly said goodbye to my clients in Pittsburgh and moved down south in December of 2023. It was a rough start building from the ground up, but I have met and gained so many wonderful connections in Nashville. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else! This month I opened my own studio in Mount Juliet. Glory Hair Studio is a dream I’ve had since I started in the hair industry and I couldn’t be more excited.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Moving to Nashville was the best thing I’ve ever done, but also the hardest. Starting from scratch in my career after feeling settled for a few years stretched me in many ways. I had some rough months over 2024. I questioned myself in my early months of starting here. The rough patches have caused me to grow a lot. I am so thankful for my husband and my family for their encouragement through it!

For any girls or guys in beauty school, stick with it! It’s so worth it. Invest in your education and learn from stylists in different states and salons. Assisting for a year after school helped me immensely. You got this!!
