Today we’d like to introduce you to Kipper Cox

Hi Kipper, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Husband and Wife duo, Chris and Kipper Cox, moved all the way from Charlotte, NC to Hendersonville, TN to live their dreams of opening up their very own tattoo and piercing studio!

Chris Cox has been a professional tattoo artist for 22 years, and Kipper Cox has ran multiple businesses, including 2 worldwide selling tattoo & pinup magazines.

In April 2024 they updated a very old tattoo shop in Hendersonville, TN to bring new life into the area! Now their shop, The Body Odyssey, has been gaining traction from clients all over TN, and even having clients fly in from outside states just to get tattooed & pierced by them!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The space they took over has been a tattoo studio for over 30 years, but it took 6 grueling months to remodel it and get everything up to code.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Chris Cox – Shop Owner – tattoo artist for 22 years – specializes in Neo Traditional styles, custom pieces and cover ups. He has won numerous awards, done many conventions & has been the feature of guest spots all along the East Coast.

Myke Anderson – tattoo artist for 46 years – specializes in black & Grey pieces, Traditional styles, and script. – He has owned his own tattoo studios & is the longest standing tattoo artist in the Hendersonville/Nashville areas!

Kenzie Peddicord – 21 yr old tattoo artist for 3 years – specializes in Traditional styles, custom pieces, and girly tattoos. – She left her father’s tattoo shop in Maryland to work with The Body Odyssey, leaving behind her mentor Dad that hails from the Ink Master show, and who has been training Kenzie in the tattoo industry since she was just 9 years old!

Jazmine LaRocque – professional Piercer for 16 years – She comes to The Body Odyssey from a long family line of tattoo artists, piercers & shop owners! – She specializes in every type of piercing you can imagine, from baby ears all the way up to experienced Dermals and more “personal” piercings.

Bambi – tattoo AND piercing artist for 3 years – specializes in black & grey, font and script style tattoos, but is joining us to further her career, so she will be branching out to other styles under our more senior artists.

Kipper Cox – Shop Owner – Former model and photographer, and used to run two world wide selling tattoo/pinup style magazine publications, The Cat’s Meow, and Le Purr Magazine. Currently Kipper co-owns The Body Odyssey with her husband Chris. She also runs an alternative Thrift Store out of their shop, called Kipper’s Closet which accepts donations & buys gently used alternative/gothic/kawaii/punk styles of clothing, shoes & jewelry!

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Hands down, Hendersonville/Nashville has been the “nicest” city we have ever lived in! Everyone we have met, regardless of age or social status, has been so incredibly supportive and complimentary of us! Honestly, looking the way we do, with being heavily tattooed & pierced, we are not used to such a kind sense of community, so we are incredibly grateful! Within a week of first moving here 2 years ago, we even got called “a level up” by a complete stranger! 😆

The thing we like the least is definitely the roads, the traffic, and the overpopulation (sorry, we contributed to that, BUT, at least we have brought revenue & positivity to the area, right?) 😅

Pricing:

• Tattoo pricing varies by the artist & by the piece
• Piercing pricing varies by the piercing, but a general idea is that pretty much any standard single hole piercing is $50, including the jewelry.
• We accept cash, card, tap, apple pay, etc.
